Hydrolyzed Elastin is named on the ingredient panel on this essence. Hydrolyzed Elastin is fragments of elastin, the protein that gives skin its snap back. Like collagen it cannot rebuild the real thing from the outside; it holds water and leaves a smooth film. On this panel it sits alongside Palmitic Acid. Palmitic Acid is a saturated fatty acid present in skin's own lipids. It thickens a formula, stabilises the emulsion and softens skin.
