How it works
This gel is a gommage-style exfoliator, meaning cellulose fibres do the work rather than an acid or a grainy scrub particle. Cellulose sits high on the ingredient list, the third entry after water and plum blossom (Prunus Mume) flower water, and forms the small beads that gather and lift dead surface cells as you massage. Allantoin and the plum blossom water keep that physical rub-off step mild rather than abrasive, and green tea leaf extract adds an antioxidant layer behind them. With no AHA or BHA anywhere on the list, the gel is meant for one to two uses a week on any skin type, rinsed off once the beads have formed.
Key benefits

Beauty of Joseon Apricot Blossom Peeling Gel
Is this a chemical or a physical exfoliator?
It is a physical exfoliator: this gel carries no acid exfoliant on its ingredient list. Instead, cellulose fibres physically gather into small beads as you massage the gel into skin, lifting dead surface cells mechanically rather than dissolving them chemically.
What is the second ingredient in this gel, and what does it do?
Prunus mume (plum blossom) flower water is the second ingredient, right after water, giving the gel its fresh base. Allantoin appears further down the list to keep the physical exfoliation step comfortable rather than abrasive.
How often should I use this peeling gel?
The formula is built for one to two uses a week rather than daily use, since it is a physical exfoliation step. Using it more often than that risks over-exfoliating skin that a gommage gel is meant to leave smoother, not more sensitive.
Does this gel contain fragrance?
No parfum or fragrance ingredient appears on this gel's own ingredient list. Green tea leaf extract and lotus flower extract provide the botanical finish instead of an added scent, so any smell you notice comes from those plant extracts rather than a perfume compound.
How can I confirm this is the authentic Korean-market Beauty of Joseon formula, not a US reformulation?
Beauty of Joseon verifies its products by sourcing chain rather than a scan, because the brand has retired its own QR verification and is phasing out its authenticity seal. Your unit arrives with its Korean-market barcode and batch code intact, not swapped for an export label, and we publish exactly where we buy. That intact packaging is the record the brand itself points to now that its earlier scan-based check is gone.

How to use
- Use it in the evening on dry, cleansed skin, two or three times a week.
- About a teaspoon over the face, massaged in light circles until the gel starts to ball up.
- Rinse with lukewarm water, then carry on with toner and the rest of your routine.
- Do not use it on the same evening as an acid or a retinoid, and do not press hard on the skin.
Worth knowing
- Patch-test on a small area first if you are new to this formula or to the brand.
- Allantoin and this formula's other named actives are new to your skin the first time you use it, so introduce it a few times a week before moving to daily use if your skin runs sensitive.
