How to use
- Use the Color Enhance Anti-Yellow Shampoo in place of your usual shampoo, on hair wet all the way through.
- Wet the scalp and hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. Apply a coin-sized amount, lather in the palms, and gently massage through the scalp and hair. Leave on for about one minute, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Use dark-colored towels and avoid light-colored clothing until the hair is fully dry.
- Rinse thoroughly, then follow with your usual conditioner or treatment through the mid-lengths and ends.
- As often as you already wash. Do not pile it straight onto dry hair; a shampoo needs water in the hair to spread at all.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
Yes. The ingredient list for CHAHONG Color Enhance Anti-Yellow Shampoo 300ml includes Fragrance. That is the label name for an added scent blend, whose individual components are not itemised beyond any allergens the label declares separately. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
No. None of the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually appear on the ingredient list for CHAHONG Color Enhance Anti-Yellow Shampoo 300ml. They are the components most often reported as contact allergens, which is why that rule names them one by one.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for CHAHONG Color Enhance Anti-Yellow Shampoo 300ml names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: denatured or SD alcohol, essential oils, silicones, parabens, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

24 of 30 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Sodium Laureth Sulfate surfactant
- An ethoxylated sulfate cleansing surfactant. The added ethylene oxide units make it noticeably milder and less drying than sodium lauryl sulfate while still foaming strongly.
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine surfactant
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a coconut-derived secondary surfactant. Its job is to boost foam and soften the harshness of the main cleanser rather than to clean on its own.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Sodium Chloride thickener
- Sodium Chloride is salt. In a cleanser it thickens the liquid; in a mask or essence it balances the mineral content of the water phase. It has no active role.
- Glycol Distearate emollient
- A wax-like ester that thickens a cleanser and gives it a pearly opacity. It also leaves a conditioned feel behind after rinsing.
- Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride film former
- Guar gum given a positive charge so it clings to hair and skin through a rinse. It is the plant-derived conditioning polymer in most sulfate-free shampoos.
- Fragrance fragrance
- Fragrance, or Parfum, is a single declaration standing for a whole scent blend, which can be dozens of materials. Regulators allow it as a trade secret, so a list showing only this word does not say what the scent is made of. It is the most common trigger named by people with reactive skin.
- Sodium Benzoate preservative
- Sodium Benzoate is a mild preservative that works only in acidic formulas. It is usually paired with potassium sorbate, and the pair is the standard choice where a brand wants no phenoxyethanol.
- Bambusa Vulgaris Extract plant extract
- Bamboo extract. Bamboo concentrates silica as it grows, so the extract is used as a hydrating, mineral-bearing ingredient.
- Citric Acid pH adjuster
- Citric Acid is used in tiny amounts to bring a formula to the pH its actives need, not as an exfoliant at that level. It is an AHA, so at much higher concentrations it can also exfoliate.
12 more explained
- Phenoxyethanol preservative
- Phenoxyethanol is the most widely used cosmetic preservative outside the paraben family. It keeps a water-containing formula from growing bacteria and mould, and is capped at one percent in most markets, so it always sits low on a list.
- Disodium EDTA chelator
- EDTA is a chelator: it locks up trace metal ions from water and packaging that would otherwise turn a formula cloudy, off-colour or rancid. It does nothing to skin and appears at a fraction of a percent.
- Hydrolyzed Corn Protein protein
- Hydrolyzed Corn Protein is corn protein cut into small soluble pieces. On a label it usually sits with two or three other plant proteins, because each brings a different amino acid balance.
- Hydrolyzed Soy Protein protein
- Hydrolyzed Soy Protein is soy protein cut into water-soluble fragments. It conditions the surface and holds water, and it is one of the most used plant proteins in cosmetics.
- Hydrolyzed Extensin protein
- Extensin is a structural glycoprotein from plant cell walls. Hydrolysed, it is cut into fragments small enough to dissolve, and it works as a water-holding film on the surface.
- Hydrolyzed Rice Protein protein
- Hydrolyzed Rice Protein is rice protein broken into small fragments. It is a humectant and film former that leaves a soft, smooth finish.
- Hydrolyzed Potato Protein protein
- Potato protein cut into small fragments. It is a plant protein used as a humectant and light film former.
- Camellia Japonica Seed Oil emollient
- Camellia Seed Oil is the traditional Korean and Japanese hair and skin oil, high in oleic acid. It is a light emollient that absorbs quickly for its richness.
- Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil emollient
- Sweet almond oil, one of the oldest cosmetic oils. It is high in oleic acid, which makes it richer and slower to absorb than the linoleic oils.
- Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil emollient
- Olive Fruit Oil is high in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is a rich emollient that suits dry skin and is heavy enough that blemish-prone skin often does not get on with it.
- Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil emollient
- Sunflower Seed Oil is high in linoleic acid, the fatty acid dry and blemish-prone skin is often short of. It is a light, non-fragrant emollient and one of the better tolerated plant oils.
- Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil emollient
- Jojoba Oil is a liquid wax rather than a true oil, and its structure is close to human sebum, which is why it absorbs so readily. It is an emollient that leaves a soft, non-greasy finish.
