How it works
A stubborn spot usually gets a heavy cream piled onto it, which moves the problem around rather than covering it. A patch does the opposite: it seals over one place and stays there while the dressing takes up what the spot gives off. This is the intensive cut in COSRX's Master Patch range, the version with actives worked into the material rather than a plain dressing. It goes on last, on clean dry skin, and comes off in the morning. One patch per spot per night, and a fresh one the next evening if it is still wanted.
Key benefits
- Salicylic acid is built into the patch material for congested spots
- Tea tree leaf oil joins the clarifying side
- Hydrocolloid absorbs fluid and turns visibly white as it works
- Skin-toned finish blends in for day or night wear

COSRX Master Patch Intensive
What makes the Master Patch Intensive different from the Basic version?
This patch shares its adhesive base, cellulose gum, hydrogenated poly(C6-20 olefin), polyisobutene and styrene/isoprene copolymer, with the rest of the line, then adds two more ingredients: salicylic acid and tea tree leaf oil, both named directly in the six-entry list. Salicylic acid sits fifth, ahead of the tea tree oil that follows it. The patch works as a dressing with those two ingredients built into the material itself.
Is the added salicylic acid a problem for sensitive skin?
Fragrance, denatured alcohol, silicone, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil and added colourant are all absent from this ingredient list, though salicylic acid and tea tree leaf oil are both present and named directly. Salicylic acid can be more likely to irritate on skin that already reacts to actives, since it's an ingredient with its own sensitivity profile rather than an inert dressing material. Trying one patch on a small area first is a reasonable way to check.
Does one patch clear congestion overnight?
The hydrocolloid base absorbs fluid from the spot the same way any patch in the line does, turning visibly white or cloudy as it fills. Salicylic acid and tea tree leaf oil sitting in the material are ingredients that work with repeated, patch-by-patch use over several days, not a single overnight application. Judging the result after one patch skips the part where those two ingredients are doing their slower work.
Can I still use my regular salicylic acid toner or serum with this patch?
Since salicylic acid is already named in this patch's material, layering a separate salicylic acid product directly underneath adds more of the same ingredient to one spot at once. Using this patch on its own for a congested area, and saving a leave-on salicylic acid step for the rest of the face, keeps the two from stacking on the exact same skin.
How do I make sure my Master Patch Intensive is the real Korean-market formula?
The EAN 8809598453821 on the box is a direct check against your own unit. COSRX additionally verifies units itself: entering the batch number and expiration date printed on your box into the verification page at cosrx.com confirms it from COSRX's side. Reading those codes off your own packaging, rather than a listing, is the actual point of that system.

How to use
- Press one Master Patch Intensive onto clean, dry skin at the end of the evening routine.
- Pick the patch that covers the spot with a margin, then smooth it down until the edges lie flat.
- Nothing goes over it. Every leave-on layer needs to have absorbed before it goes on.
- One patch per spot per night. Do not reuse a patch that has been peeled off, and do not layer one over a cream.
Worth knowing
- This formula carries an active acid, so pairing it with another exfoliant in the same routine is worth spacing out.

BHAs like salicylic acid get really deep into the pores, whereas the water-soluble ones don't go as deep.
Samantha Stein, PA-CDermatology physician assistant, Cleveland Clinic I think it's fair to say I've seen lots of patients use tea tree oil for a variety of skin issues. It's a natural remedy that is known to help.
