How to use
- Use the AHA/BHA Clean Exfoliating Serum after toner and before moisturizer, morning and evening.
- Apply a suitable amount evenly over the face and gently pat until absorbed.
- Toner first so the surface is damp, then this, then about a minute before your moisturizer goes over the top.
- Twice a day, every day. Do not stack it with a second serum of the same kind; two hydrating serums in one routine do the work of one.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for EUNYUL AHA/BHA Clean Exfoliating Serum 50ml. Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Does this product contain essential oils?
Yes. The ingredient list for EUNYUL AHA/BHA Clean Exfoliating Serum 50ml includes Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil. Aromatic plant oils are listed under their botanical name rather than as fragrance, so they are named separately from any fragrance or parfum entry.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
No. None of the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually appear on the ingredient list for EUNYUL AHA/BHA Clean Exfoliating Serum 50ml. They are the components most often reported as contact allergens, which is why that rule names them one by one.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
Yes. The ingredient list for EUNYUL AHA/BHA Clean Exfoliating Serum 50ml includes Alcohol. That is the solvent form of alcohol, and it is a different ingredient from the fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol that many formulas use as emollients.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

21 of 22 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Alcohol solvent
- Alcohol here means ethanol. It dissolves ingredients water cannot, evaporates fast so a formula sets quickly and does not feel heavy, and thins texture. In quantity it can leave dry or reactive skin feeling tight, which is why many Korean formulas avoid it and some deliberately use it for a fast, weightless finish.
- PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer solvent
- PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer is a water-soluble polymer used as a humectant and solubiliser. It keeps a formula fluid and helps oils stay dispersed.
- Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane silicone
- A water-soluble silicone used for a light, silky slip without an oily film. It also helps other ingredients spread evenly.
- PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil emulsifier
- PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a castor-oil-derived solubiliser. It is what keeps fragrance and oil-soluble ingredients dissolved in a watery formula so it stays clear.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Grapefruit fruit extract, carrying fruit acids, sugars and flavonoids. It is used as a conditioning, antioxidant-rich extract.
- Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract plant extract
- Licorice Root Extract carries glabridin and liquiritin. It is one of the classic plant ingredients used for the look of uneven tone and redness, and it appears in almost every brightening formula that avoids synthetic actives.
- Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract plant extract
- The peel extract of the satsuma mandarin, the gyul grown on Jeju. It carries flavonoids and aromatic oils and is used as a conditioning antioxidant extract.
- Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Lemon fruit extract, carrying citric acid, sugars and flavonoids. It is the water-based fruit extract rather than the peel oil, so it brings the fruit acids without the aromatic terpenes.
- Salicylic Acid exfoliant
- Salicylic Acid is a BHA, and the only common exfoliant that is oil soluble, so it can work inside a pore rather than only on the surface. It loosens the dead cells that block pores and is used for the look of congested, oily skin.
9 more explained
- Lactic Acid exfoliant
- Lactic Acid is a larger AHA than glycolic, so it works nearer the surface and is easier on skin, and it is a humectant as well as an exfoliant. It is the AHA of choice for dry skin.
- Glycolic Acid exfoliant
- Glycolic Acid is the smallest AHA, which is why it is also the most penetrating and the most likely to sting. It loosens the bonds between dead surface cells and is used for the look of dullness and rough texture.
- Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer thickener
- This is a synthetic thickener that gels quickly and holds an emulsion stable across a wide pH range. It gives a light, non-tacky body.
- Tromethamine pH adjuster
- Tromethamine neutralises acidic thickeners such as carbomer so they gel, and holds a formula near skin-friendly pH. It is used at a fraction of a percent.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate active
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate is a water-soluble salt derived from licorice root. It is the licorice fraction Korean formulas use for the look of redness, and it is far more stable in water than the whole extract.
- Hydroxyacetophenone preservative booster
- Hydroxyacetophenone is an antioxidant that also strengthens a preservative system, so a formula needs less traditional preservative. Korean formulas pair it with 1,2-hexanediol constantly.
- Disodium EDTA chelator
- EDTA is a chelator: it locks up trace metal ions from water and packaging that would otherwise turn a formula cloudy, off-colour or rancid. It does nothing to skin and appears at a fraction of a percent.
- Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil fragrance component
- Sweet Orange Peel Oil is a citrus essential oil carrying limonene. It scents a formula, and limonene is one of the components EU labelling names separately.
