Snail Sleeping Hair Ampoule 20ml$7.50Cica Care Treatment 300ml
Dimethicone is second and the behentrimonium conditioning pair seventh and eighth, so this 300ml treatment works as a rinse-out conditioner. The centella the name points at is nineteenth.

How to use
- Use the Cica Care Treatment after shampooing, on hair towelled to damp rather than dripping.
- A generous amount through the mid-lengths and ends, kept off the scalp itself.
- Shampoo first, this second. Leave it for the time the pack gives, then rinse.
- Once or twice a week. Do not work it into the roots; a treatment weighs down the one part of the hair that does not need it.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
Yes. The ingredient list for GRAFEN Cica Care Treatment 300ml includes Fragrance. That is the label name for an added scent blend, whose individual components are not itemised beyond any allergens the label declares separately. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
Yes. Hydroxycitronellal appears on the ingredient list for GRAFEN Cica Care Treatment 300ml. These belong to the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually rather than folded into a fragrance entry.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for GRAFEN Cica Care Treatment 300ml names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: denatured or SD alcohol, essential oils, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

46 of 47 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Dimethicone silicone
- Dimethicone is the most used cosmetic silicone. It forms a breathable film that smooths the surface, slows water leaving skin, and gives the slip that makes a primer or cream feel silky. It is inert and does not penetrate.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Cetyl Alcohol fatty alcohol
- Cetyl Alcohol is a waxy fatty alcohol from coconut or palm, unrelated to drying ethanol. It thickens creams, stabilises the emulsion and leaves skin feeling softer.
- Propylene Glycol humectant
- Propylene Glycol is a small glycol used as a humectant and solvent. It hydrates and helps actives dissolve; newer formulas often swap it for propanediol, which does the same job with a lighter feel.
- Cetearyl Alcohol fatty alcohol
- Cetearyl Alcohol is a waxy solid, not the drying kind of alcohol. It is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohols used to thicken a cream and keep oil and water from separating, and it softens skin as it does so.
- Behentrimonium Chloride surfactant
- Behentrimonium Chloride is a positively charged conditioning agent. It is the main detangling ingredient in most hair conditioners, and it is not a cleanser.
- Behentrimonium Methosulfate emulsifier
- A mild cationic conditioning agent built from rapeseed fatty acid. It sits on the surface with a positive charge, which is why it detangles and smooths, and it also helps hold an emulsion together.
- Fragrance fragrance
- Fragrance, or Parfum, is a single declaration standing for a whole scent blend, which can be dozens of materials. Regulators allow it as a trade secret, so a list showing only this word does not say what the scent is made of. It is the most common trigger named by people with reactive skin.
- Phenoxyethanol preservative
- Phenoxyethanol is the most widely used cosmetic preservative outside the paraben family. It keeps a water-containing formula from growing bacteria and mould, and is capped at one percent in most markets, so it always sits low on a list.
- Polyquaternium-10 film former
- A cellulose polymer carrying a positive charge. It deposits from a rinse-off formula onto hair or skin and leaves a smooth, anti-static film.
- Allium Cepa (onion) Bulb Extract plant extract
- Onion Bulb Extract carries quercetin and sulphur compounds. Korean formulas use it for the look of blemish marks and uneven tone, and it is the namesake ingredient of the onion skincare line.
34 more explained
- Artemisia Capillaris Extract plant extract
- Artemisia Capillaris is a mugwort species used in Korean and Chinese traditional practice. Its extract is used for the look of reddened, reactive skin.
- Brassica Oleracea Italica (broccoli) Extract plant extract
- Broccoli extract, carrying sulforaphane and vitamin C. It is used as a plant antioxidant.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Methionine amino acid
- Methionine is a sulphur-bearing essential amino acid used as a humectant and mild antioxidant.
- Cysteine amino acid
- Cysteine is a sulphur-bearing amino acid used as a humectant and antioxidant. It is one of the three building blocks of glutathione.
- Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract plant extract
- Centella Asiatica is the plant behind the whole cica category, sold as gotu kola or Madagascar centella. Its extract is the anchor of Korean formulas built for easily reddened skin, and its work is done by four triterpenes: asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid.
- Artemisia Vulgaris Extract plant extract
- Common mugwort extract. It is the same genus as the Korean mugwort artemisia princeps and is used for the look of reddened, reactive skin.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract plant extract
- Prickly pear fruit extract. The fruit carries betalain pigments and water-holding sugars, and it colours a formula pink.
- Lactobacillus Ferment ferment
- Lactobacillus Ferment is the liquid left after lactobacillus bacteria have fermented a plant or milk substrate. It carries the small molecules the fermentation produced, including lactic acid and amino acids, and is used for the look of dull, uneven skin.
- Histidine amino acid
- Histidine is an amino acid used as a humectant and a buffer, part of skin's own free amino acid pool.
- Proline amino acid
- Proline is an amino acid abundant in collagen and one of skin's own humectants. Added to a formula it holds water in the outer layer.
- Phenylalanine amino acid
- Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid used in skincare as a conditioning humectant.
- Tryptophan amino acid
- Tryptophan is an essential amino acid. On a label it is usually one of a set of amino acids added together as a conditioning, water-holding blend.
- Threonine amino acid
- Threonine is an essential amino acid used in skincare as a humectant, normally as part of an amino acid complex rather than alone.
- Tyrosine amino acid
- Tyrosine is an amino acid used as a conditioning humectant in amino acid complexes.
- Taurine amino acid
- Taurine is an amino acid that occurs in high concentration inside the body cells, where it helps regulate water balance. In a formula it is a humectant and conditioning agent.
- Ornithine amino acid
- Ornithine is an amino acid the body makes on the way to urea. In a formula it is one of the amino acids used as a humectant and a component of the natural moisturising factor blend.
- Arginine amino acid
- Arginine is an amino acid that does two jobs here: it holds water in the outer layer of skin, and it neutralises acidic gelling agents, which is why it often stands in for a synthetic pH adjuster.
- Alanine amino acid
- Alanine is a free amino acid skin uses as part of its own moisture-holding system. In a formula it hydrates and conditions.
- Isoleucine amino acid
- Isoleucine is an essential amino acid used as a conditioning humectant within an amino acid complex.
- Aspartic Acid amino acid
- Aspartic Acid is an amino acid used as a humectant and buffer, usually within a wider amino acid blend.
- Asparagine amino acid
- Asparagine is an amino acid used as a humectant and conditioner, almost always inside a wider amino acid blend rather than on its own.
- Cystine amino acid
- Cystine is two cysteine molecules joined by a sulphur bridge, the bond that gives keratin its strength. In a formula it is a conditioning amino acid.
- Serine amino acid
- Serine is one of the most abundant free amino acids in the outer layer of skin, where it helps hold water. Added to a formula it is a humectant.
- Valine amino acid
- Valine is an essential amino acid used as a humectant alongside the rest of an amino acid block.
- Leucine amino acid
- Leucine is an essential amino acid used as a humectant, part of the amino acid block many Korean essences carry.
- Lysine amino acid
- Lysine is an essential amino acid used as a conditioning humectant in an amino acid complex.
- Glutamine amino acid
- Glutamine is the most abundant free amino acid in the body. In a formula it hydrates and conditions, usually as part of an amino acid blend.
- Glutamic Acid amino acid
- Glutamic Acid is an amino acid used as a humectant and a mild pH adjuster. It is one of the components of skin's natural moisturising factor.
- Glycine amino acid
- Glycine is the smallest amino acid and one of the free amino acids skin holds to keep water in the outer layer. In a formula it is a humectant and a mild buffer.
- Caprylyl Glycol preservative booster
- Caprylyl Glycol is a glycol that conditions skin and, more importantly, strengthens a preservative system so less of the traditional preservative is needed. It appears in most modern formulas built without parabens.
- Hydroxycitronellal fragrance component
- Hydroxycitronellal is a soft lily-of-the-valley aromatic. It is one of the 26 declarable fragrance components.
