How it works

The GOLDEN GLOW FACE OIL is a 40ml face oil. The active it is built around is Adenosine, named eighteenth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Prunus Mume Fruit Extract and Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Adenosine stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the face oil format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the face oil IOPE sells in Korea, Adenosine and all.

Key benefits

  • Adenosine, the active this face oil is built around
  • Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Prunus Mume Fruit Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract and Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract on the same list, plant extracts
  • Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract and Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil further down the same list
  • Squalane and Polyglycerin-3 further down the same list
  • Adenosine named eighteenth on the manufacturer list printed on this page
  • The Korean-market release of this face oil, confirmed against its Korean barcode

Key actives

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. On this face oil's own ingredient list it is named eighteenth.

Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extractplant extract

Scutellaria Baicalensis is Chinese skullcap. Its root extract carries baicalin, a well studied plant antioxidant, and it is used for the look of redness. The panel names it tenth on this face oil's list, beside Adenosine.

Prunus Mume Fruit Extractplant extract

Korean plum extract, from the fruit used to make maesil syrup. It is acidic and carries organic acids and polyphenols. The panel names it fifteenth on this face oil's list, beside Adenosine.

Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extractplant extract

Sea Buckthorn Fruit Extract is high in vitamin C and carotenoids, which give it a strong orange colour. It is used as an antioxidant extract. It is named sixteenth on this face oil's list, alongside Adenosine.

Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extractplant extract

Lotus flower extract, from the same sacred lotus as the leaf. It carries flavonoids and sugars and is used as a conditioning, hydrating extract. It is named nineteenth on this face oil's list, alongside Adenosine.

How to use

  1. Use it at the end of a routine, over any cream, so nothing has to pass through it.
  2. Two or three drops warmed in the palms is a whole face, pressed on with flat hands.
  3. Go heavier on dry areas and lighter across the nose and forehead if those get shiny.
  4. Avoid mixing it into the same palm as a water based serum, since the two do not layer and you get pilling instead.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test on a small area first and wait a day before full use, especially the first time.
