How to use
- Use the Hair Loss Relief Shampoo Scalp Strengthening 400ml (Refill) in place of your usual shampoo, on hair wet all the way through.
- Apply an appropriate amount to wet scalp and hair. Leave on for 2 to 3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Follow with LABO-H Scalp Strengthening Capsule Treatment or Conditioner.
- Rinse thoroughly, then follow with your usual conditioner or treatment through the mid-lengths and ends.
- As often as you already wash. Do not pile it straight onto dry hair; a shampoo needs water in the hair to spread at all.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for LABO-H Hair Loss Relief Shampoo Scalp Strengthening 400ml (Refill). Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Does this product contain essential oils?
Yes. The ingredient list for LABO-H Hair Loss Relief Shampoo Scalp Strengthening 400ml (Refill) includes MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL, JUNIPERUS VIRGINIANA OIL, MENTHA ARVENSIS LEAF OIL, EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS LEAF OIL and ANTHEMIS NOBILIS FLOWER OIL. Aromatic plant oils are listed under their botanical name rather than as fragrance, so they are named separately from any fragrance or parfum entry.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
No. None of the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually appear on the ingredient list for LABO-H Hair Loss Relief Shampoo Scalp Strengthening 400ml (Refill). They are the components most often reported as contact allergens, which is why that rule names them one by one.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for LABO-H Hair Loss Relief Shampoo Scalp Strengthening 400ml (Refill) names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

33 of 35 explained
- WATER / AQUA / EAU solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE surfactant
- Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a coconut-derived surfactant that gives a dense, creamy foam while staying mild. It is the usual choice in syndet cleansing bars.
- DISODIUM LAURETH SULFOSUCCINATE surfactant
- A sulfosuccinate surfactant: milder than a sulfate, with more foam than an amino-acid one. It is often used to soften a sulfate-based cleanser.
- LAURYL BETAINE surfactant
- Lauryl Betaine is a secondary surfactant that boosts foam and thickens a cleanser while reducing how stripping the main surfactant feels.
- GLYCERYL STEARATE emulsifier
- Glyceryl Stearate is glycerin joined to stearic acid, and one of the most used emulsifiers in skincare. It holds oil and water together and thickens the result, and it softens skin at the same time.
- TRIHYDROXYSTEARIN thickener
- A castor-derived wax used to thicken oils and stop pigments settling. It builds structure in an anhydrous formula without making it hard.
- POLYQUATERNIUM-10 film former
- A cellulose polymer carrying a positive charge. It deposits from a rinse-off formula onto hair or skin and leaves a smooth, anti-static film.
- CAFFEINE active
- Caffeine constricts small blood vessels near the surface, which is why eye products use it for the look of puffiness and shadow. It is water soluble and works only while it is on the skin.
- CETYL ALCOHOL fatty alcohol
- Cetyl Alcohol is a waxy fatty alcohol from coconut or palm, unrelated to drying ethanol. It thickens creams, stabilises the emulsion and leaves skin feeling softer.
- DICAPRYLYL ETHER emollient
- Dicaprylyl Ether is a very light emollient used to make a formula spread quickly and feel dry rather than oily.
- SODIUM BENZOATE preservative
- Sodium Benzoate is a mild preservative that works only in acidic formulas. It is usually paired with potassium sorbate, and the pair is the standard choice where a brand wants no phenoxyethanol.
- SODIUM SALICYLATE exfoliant
- Sodium Salicylate is the sodium salt of salicylic acid, so it dissolves in water where the acid itself does not. It is used as a mild BHA exfoliant and a preservative booster.
21 more explained
- MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL fragrance
- Peppermint essential oil. Its menthol content is what produces the cool feeling, and it is a commonly declared fragrance material.
- MENTHOL active
- Menthol is the cooling compound in mint. It acts on the nerve receptor that also answers to cold, which is why skin feels cool without any change in temperature.
- CITRIC ACID pH adjuster
- Citric Acid is used in tiny amounts to bring a formula to the pH its actives need, not as an exfoliant at that level. It is an AHA, so at much higher concentrations it can also exfoliate.
- CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE emollient
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.
- CAPRYLYL GLYCOL preservative booster
- Caprylyl Glycol is a glycol that conditions skin and, more importantly, strengthens a preservative system so less of the traditional preservative is needed. It appears in most modern formulas built without parabens.
- ILLICIUM VERUM (ANISE) FRUIT/SEED OIL fragrance component
- Star anise oil, an essential oil dominated by anethole. It scents a formula strongly and is used in small amounts.
- ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL fragrance component
- Rosemary Leaf Oil is an essential oil carrying camphor and cineole. It scents a formula and is a stronger aromatic than most.
- DEXTRIN thickener
- Dextrin is a starch fragment used to thicken and to give a formula a light, powdery finish. It is also a common carrier for powdered extracts.
- JUNIPERUS VIRGINIANA OIL fragrance
- Virginian cedarwood oil, a soft woody essential oil. Like every essential oil it carries aromatic terpenes and is a fragrance ingredient.
- TETRASODIUM EDTA chelator
- EDTA is a chelator: it locks up trace metal ions from water and packaging that would otherwise turn a formula cloudy, off-colour or rancid. It does nothing to skin and appears at a fraction of a percent.
- MENTHA ARVENSIS LEAF OIL fragrance
- Cornmint oil, the main commercial source of menthol. It smells and feels close to peppermint.
- EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS LEAF OIL fragrance component
- Eucalyptus Leaf Oil is an essential oil carrying eucalyptol. It scents a formula sharply and gives a cooling sensation.
- ANTHEMIS NOBILIS FLOWER OIL fragrance component
- Anthemis Nobilis is Roman chamomile. The flower oil is an essential oil, so it scents a formula as well as conditioning it, and essential oils are the class most likely to bother reactive skin.
- LACTOBACILLUS FERMENT LYSATE ferment
- Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate is the ferment with the bacterial cells broken open, so their contents are in the formula too. It is a conditioning ferment used in barrier-focused products.
- GLYCERIN humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- CAMELLIA SINENSIS SEED EXTRACT plant extract
- Green tea seed extract, from the seed rather than the leaf, so it carries saponins and sterols instead of catechins. It is used as a conditioning extract.
- TOCOPHEROL antioxidant
- Tocopherol is vitamin E. It is an oil-soluble antioxidant that protects the oils in a formula from going rancid and works on skin as an emollient, and it is regularly paired with vitamin C because each keeps the other going for longer.
- CERAMIDE NP barrier lipid
- Ceramide NP is the most used cosmetic ceramide, the same class of lipid that makes up roughly half the mortar between cells in the outer layer of skin. Added to a cream it slots into that structure, which is why ceramide formulas feel less leaky rather than merely greasy.
- HYDROGENATED LECITHIN emulsifier
- Hydrogenated Lecithin is lecithin with its unsaturated bonds filled in, which makes it far more stable. It emulsifies and is the standard shell for the liposomes that carry actives into the outer layer of skin.
- PHYTOSPHINGOSINE barrier lipid
- Phytosphingosine is the backbone every ceramide is built on, and skin uses it in its own lipid layer. In a formula it works with ceramides and cholesterol and also keeps the product stable against microbes.
- BIOTIN vitamin
- Biotin is vitamin B7. In skincare it is a conditioning vitamin, most often in hair and scalp formulas.
