How to use
- Use the Argan Essential Deep Care Shampoo in place of your usual shampoo, on hair wet all the way through.
- Wet hair thoroughly with water. Apply an appropriate amount of shampoo to hair and scalp. Lather and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. For optimal results, follow with Argan Essential Deep Care Conditioner.
- Rinse thoroughly, then follow with your usual conditioner or treatment through the mid-lengths and ends.
- As often as you already wash. Do not pile it straight onto dry hair; a shampoo needs water in the hair to spread at all.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
Yes. The ingredient list for Nature Republic Argan Essential Deep Care Shampoo 1000ml includes Fragrance. That is the label name for an added scent blend, whose individual components are not itemised beyond any allergens the label declares separately. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
Yes. Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional and Linalool appear on the ingredient list for Nature Republic Argan Essential Deep Care Shampoo 1000ml. These belong to the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually rather than folded into a fragrance entry.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for Nature Republic Argan Essential Deep Care Shampoo 1000ml names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: denatured or SD alcohol, essential oils, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

31 of 36 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine surfactant
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a coconut-derived secondary surfactant. Its job is to boost foam and soften the harshness of the main cleanser rather than to clean on its own.
- Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate surfactant
- An amino-acid surfactant made from coconut fatty acids and alanine. It foams less aggressively than a sulfate and rinses without the tight feeling.
- Sodium Lauroyl Methylaminopropionate surfactant
- An amino-acid-derived cleanser that foams well at skin-friendly pH. It is one of the mild surfactants Korean low-pH cleansers are built on.
- Propylene Glycol humectant
- Propylene Glycol is a small glycol used as a humectant and solvent. It hydrates and helps actives dissolve; newer formulas often swap it for propanediol, which does the same job with a lighter feel.
- Cocamide Methyl MEA surfactant
- A coconut derived amide used as a foam booster and thickener in cleansers. It builds a denser lather and adds body to a surfactant blend.
- Polyquaternium-10 film former
- A cellulose polymer carrying a positive charge. It deposits from a rinse-off formula onto hair or skin and leaves a smooth, anti-static film.
- Fragrance fragrance
- Fragrance, or Parfum, is a single declaration standing for a whole scent blend, which can be dozens of materials. Regulators allow it as a trade secret, so a list showing only this word does not say what the scent is made of. It is the most common trigger named by people with reactive skin.
- Sodium Benzoate preservative
- Sodium Benzoate is a mild preservative that works only in acidic formulas. It is usually paired with potassium sorbate, and the pair is the standard choice where a brand wants no phenoxyethanol.
- Caprylyl Glycol preservative booster
- Caprylyl Glycol is a glycol that conditions skin and, more importantly, strengthens a preservative system so less of the traditional preservative is needed. It appears in most modern formulas built without parabens.
- PCA humectant
- PCA is pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, one of the components of the natural moisturising factor skin makes for itself. It holds water at the surface, and its salts do the same job.
- Betaine humectant
- Betaine is a sugar-beet-derived humectant that cells use to hold water. In a formula it hydrates and takes the edge off cleansers and acids, which is why it often appears alongside them.
19 more explained
- Sodium Lactate humectant
- Sodium Lactate is the salt of lactic acid and one of the components of skin's own natural moisturising factor. At the levels used here it is a humectant and buffer rather than an exfoliant.
- Sodium Chloride thickener
- Sodium Chloride is salt. In a cleanser it thickens the liquid; in a mask or essence it balances the mineral content of the water phase. It has no active role.
- Creatine amino acid
- Creatine is a small amino acid derivative the body uses to carry energy in muscle. In a formula it is a water soluble conditioning ingredient.
- Arginine amino acid
- Arginine is an amino acid that does two jobs here: it holds water in the outer layer of skin, and it neutralises acidic gelling agents, which is why it often stands in for a synthetic pH adjuster.
- Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract plant extract
- Lavender extract, the water-soluble fraction rather than the essential oil. It is used as a conditioning extract and carries a light lavender scent.
- Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract plant extract
- Bee balm leaf extract, a mint family plant. The leaf carries aromatic terpenes and flavonoids and is used as a conditioning botanical with a faint scent.
- Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract plant extract
- Peppermint leaf extract, the water-based extract rather than the essential oil, so it carries far less menthol. It is used as a refreshing herbal extract.
- Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract plant extract
- Chamomile Flower Extract is one of the oldest ingredients in skincare, carrying bisabolol and chamazulene. It is used for the look of redness in formulas for reactive skin.
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract plant extract
- Rosemary Leaf Extract carries rosmarinic and carnosic acids, both effective antioxidants. It is often there to keep the oils in a formula from going rancid.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil emollient
- Evening primrose oil, the main plant source of gamma-linolenic acid. It absorbs fast and oxidises fast, so formulas pair it with an antioxidant.
- Rosa Canina Fruit Oil emollient
- Rosehip oil, pressed from the fruit of the dog rose. It is high in linoleic acid and carotenoids and is used for the look of marked, uneven skin.
- Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil emollient
- Argan Oil is pressed from the argan kernel and is rich in oleic and linoleic acids plus vitamin E. It is a medium-weight emollient that absorbs reasonably fast.
- Limonene fragrance component
- Limonene is the citrus-peel aromatic. It appears here because EU labelling requires 26 fragrance components to be named individually rather than hidden inside "fragrance", and it is one of them.
- Hexyl Cinnamal fragrance component
- Hexyl Cinnamal is a jasmine-like aromatic. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named individually.
- Butylphenyl Methylpropional fragrance component
- A synthetic aroma molecule with a soft floral note, once widely known as Lilial. It is one of the fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named separately.
- Linalool fragrance component
- Linalool is a floral aromatic found in lavender, bergamot and coriander. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be declared by name.
