How it works

Bakuchiol leads the ingredient panel on this serum. Bakuchiol is a compound from the babchi seed, used as a plant-derived alternative to retinol. It is oil soluble, stable in daylight and does not carry retinol's acclimatisation period, which is why sensitive-skin formulas choose it. On this panel it sits alongside Hydrangea Macrophylla Leaf Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract. Bigleaf hydrangea leaf extract. It carries phyllodulcin and flavonoids and is used as a conditioning plant extract.

Key benefits

  • Bakuchiol named on this product's own ingredient panel, near the top of it
  • Hydrangea Macrophylla Leaf Extract on the same panel, the formula's plant extract
  • Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 on the same panel, the formula's peptide
  • 30 ml to a unit
  • Korean GS1 barcode matched against a Korea sourcing supplier's record for this item

Key actives

Bakuchiol

Bakuchiol is a compound from the babchi seed, used as a plant-derived alternative to retinol. It is oil soluble, stable in daylight and does not carry retinol's acclimatisation period, which is why sensitive-skin formulas choose it.

Hydrangea Macrophylla Leaf Extract

Bigleaf hydrangea leaf extract. It carries phyllodulcin and flavonoids and is used as a conditioning plant extract.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is a six-amino-acid peptide used for the look of expression lines, particularly around the eyes. It is the peptide sold under the name Argireline and is water soluble and stable.

Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract

Lavender extract, the water-soluble fraction rather than the essential oil. It is used as a conditioning extract and carries a light lavender scent.

How to use

  1. Use it in the evening, after toner and before your moisturizer, once the face is dry.
  2. Three or four drops for the face and neck, pressed in and left to settle for a minute.
  3. Follow with a moisturizer, and wear sunscreen the next morning as you would anyway.
  4. Nightly from the start is fine here. Do not stack it with a retinoid on the same night, because that is two of the same job.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test on a small area first and wait a day before full use, especially the first time.
  • Introduce gradually alongside a moisturizer and daily sunscreen if adding an exfoliating or retinoid-family active to a new routine.
