How it works
It is a light fluid that settles closer to matte than most serums do. That finish is why it works under a base, where a slicker layer would move things around. A moisturizer cannot do the same thing here, because it is spread thicker and does more general work. It belongs in the middle of a routine, once the water step is on and before anything occlusive. You can judge it on how quickly it settles and how the face looks once the cream is on over it.

What is this product, and who is it for?
It is a pore refining serum in a 30ml bottle, made for oily skin that wants a lighter looking texture across the nose. It is doing a narrower job than an all-purpose lotion, and that is the reason it goes on before one. The honest measure is the way the skin looks in the mirror once everything has settled.
Do I use this before or after moisturizer?
Before the moisturizer, always. A serum is the thin, concentrated step and a cream is the layer that holds it in place, so putting the cream on first leaves the serum sitting on top of a barrier it cannot get under. Toner, serum, cream, sunscreen is the sequence in the morning, and the same without sunscreen at night.
How often should I apply it?
Twice a day is the usual rhythm, morning and evening, with a small amount each time. Start with a pea-sized dab and only add more if it does not cover. If your skin is new to a concentrated step, every other evening for the first week is a gentler way in than twice a day from the start.
Will it pill under sunscreen or makeup?
Pilling is almost always a timing problem rather than a formula one. Apply a thin layer, wait until the surface is no longer tacky, then put sunscreen or a base on top. Using too much is the other common cause, so start with a small amount. Pressing rather than rubbing the next layer on also helps it sit flat.
Is this the Korean formula, or a US version of it?

- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Dipropylene Glycol humectant
- Dipropylene Glycol is a glycol used as a solvent and a light humectant. Its main job is keeping the rest of the formula dissolved and the texture fluid rather than adding hydration of its own.
- Niacinamide active
- Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.
- Xylitol humectant
- Xylitol is a sugar alcohol humectant. It holds water in the outer layer of skin and is often paired with anhydroxylitol and xylitylglucoside as a hydration trio.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Hydroxyacetophenone preservative booster
- Hydroxyacetophenone is an antioxidant that also strengthens a preservative system, so a formula needs less traditional preservative. Korean formulas pair it with 1,2-hexanediol constantly.
- Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer thickener
- This is a carbomer relative with fatty side chains, so it thickens and stabilises an emulsion at the same time. It gives a light gel-cream body rather than a heavy one.
- Vigna Radiata Seed Extract plant extract
- Mung bean seed extract, the nokdu of Korean cleansing powders. It carries starches, proteins and saponins and is used as a conditioning, mildly cleansing extract.
- Tromethamine pH adjuster
- Tromethamine neutralises acidic thickeners such as carbomer so they gel, and holds a formula near skin-friendly pH. It is used at a fraction of a percent.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.

How to use
- Apply it after your toner, while the face is still slightly damp, so a thin layer spreads without dragging.
- Three or four drops cover the whole face; press it in with the flats of the fingers rather than rubbing.
- Follow with a moisturizer within a minute so the thin layer has something holding it down.
- Do not stack it under a second serum doing the same job, since more layers is not the same as more result.
