How to use
- Use the Green Tea Deep Cleansing Water 200ml (Make-up Remover) on dry skin as the first evening cleanse, before any water.
- Soak a cotton pad with the cleansing water and place it over the eyes for 10 to 20 seconds before gently wiping away makeup. Wipe the face and repeat 2 to 3 times where needed to remove remaining makeup and impurities.
- Follow with a water-based cleanser and then your toner. A cleansing water is a first pass, not the whole wash.
- Once a day, in the evening. Do not leave it on as a leave-on step; it is formulated to be followed by a rinse.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for Bonajour Green Tea Deep Cleansing Water 200ml (Make-up Remover). Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
No. None of the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually appear on the ingredient list for Bonajour Green Tea Deep Cleansing Water 200ml (Make-up Remover). They are the components most often reported as contact allergens, which is why that rule names them one by one.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
Yes. The ingredient list for Bonajour Green Tea Deep Cleansing Water 200ml (Make-up Remover) includes Alcohol Denat. That is the solvent form of alcohol, and it is a different ingredient from the fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol that many formulas use as emollients.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, essential oils, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

22 of 25 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate is a mild sugar-derived solubiliser used to dissolve fragrance and oil into watery formulas.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract plant extract
- Camellia Sinensis is the tea plant. Green tea leaf extract carries catechins, among the most studied plant antioxidants, and is used for the look of redness and oily shine.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Saponaria Officinalis Leaf Extract plant extract
- Soapwort leaf extract. It is naturally rich in saponins, so it foams a little and works as a very mild plant cleanser.
- Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract surfactant
- Soapbark extract, rich in natural saponins. Saponins foam in water, which is why this is used as a plant-derived cleansing agent rather than as a botanical.
- Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract plant extract
- Peppermint leaf extract, the water-based extract rather than the essential oil, so it carries far less menthol. It is used as a refreshing herbal extract.
- Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract plant extract
- Tea Tree Leaf Extract is the water-based extract rather than the essential oil, so it is far milder and much less aromatic. It is used in formulas for blemish-prone skin.
- Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Extract plant extract
- Thyme flower and leaf extract, carrying the phenols thymol and carvacrol along with rosmarinic acid. It is used as an antioxidant herbal extract.
- Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract plant extract
- Eucalyptus leaf extract, the water-based extract rather than the essential oil. It carries tannins and flavonoids with only a trace of the aroma.
- Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract plant extract
- Oregano leaf extract, rich in the phenols carvacrol and thymol. It is used as an antioxidant plant extract and brings its own herbal scent with it.
10 more explained
- Pelargonium Graveolens Extract plant extract
- Rose geranium extract, the water-soluble fraction rather than the essential oil. It is used as a conditioning extract with a rose-like scent.
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract plant extract
- Rosemary extract with the plant part unstated. Rosemary carries rosmarinic and carnosic acid, and it is also used to keep the oils in a formula from going rancid.
- Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract plant extract
- Lemon balm extract, a mint-family herb rich in rosmarinic acid. It is used as an antioxidant conditioning extract with a light lemon scent.
- Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract plant extract
- Lavender extract, the water-soluble fraction rather than the essential oil. It is used as a conditioning extract and carries a light lavender scent.
- Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract plant extract
- Scutellaria Baicalensis is Chinese skullcap. Its root extract carries baicalin, a well studied plant antioxidant, and it is used for the look of redness.
- Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract plant extract
- Paeonia Suffruticosa is tree peony, a long-standing East Asian medicinal plant. Its root extract carries paeoniflorin and is used for the look of reddened skin.
- Pentylene Glycol humectant
- Pentylene Glycol hydrates and, like the other longer-chain glycols, makes a formula less hospitable to microbes so the preservative system can be lighter. It also improves how evenly a product spreads.
- Caprylyl Glycol preservative booster
- Caprylyl Glycol is a glycol that conditions skin and, more importantly, strengthens a preservative system so less of the traditional preservative is needed. It appears in most modern formulas built without parabens.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Alcohol Denat solvent
- Alcohol Denat. is ethanol with a bitter additive that makes it undrinkable, which is a tax rule rather than a formulation choice. It behaves like alcohol: a fast-evaporating solvent that gives a weightless finish and can feel drying at higher levels.
