How it works

The PEPTIDE-132 Ultra Perfect Hair Bonding Shampoo is a 100ml shampoo, used in place of your usual shampoo, on hair wet all the way through. The peptide it is built around is Tripeptide-132 HCl, named forty-first on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Zinc PCA, Caffeine and Niacinamide, so the peptide is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Tripeptide-132 HCl stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the shampoo format rather than by the list alone. COSRX sells this Tripeptide-132 HCl shampoo in Korea, and this is that version.

Key benefits

  • Tripeptide-132 HCl, the peptide this shampoo is built around
  • Zinc PCA, Caffeine and Niacinamide on the same list, actives
  • Sodium Salicylate on the same list, an exfoliant
  • Avena Sativa (Oat) Peptide and Biotin further down the same list
  • Tocopherol and Ceramide NP further down the same list
  • Tripeptide-132 HCl named forty-first on the manufacturer list printed on this page

Key actives

Tripeptide-132 HClpeptide

Tripeptide-132 HCl is a three-amino-acid peptide supplied as a hydrochloride salt, which is simply the form that dissolves readily in water. It is the entry this shampoo is named after, and the list carries it.

Zinc PCAactive

Zinc PCA pairs zinc with the humectant PCA. It is used in oily and blemish-prone formulas for the look of shine and visible pores, and it hydrates at the same time. The panel names it thirty-eighth on this shampoo's list, beside Tripeptide-132 HCl.

Caffeineactive

Caffeine constricts small blood vessels near the surface, which is why eye products use it for the look of puffiness and shadow. It is water soluble and works only while it is on the skin. The panel names it sixty-fourth on this shampoo's list, beside Tripeptide-132 HCl.

Niacinamideactive

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is named sixty-sixth on this shampoo's list, alongside Tripeptide-132 HCl.

Sodium Salicylateexfoliant

Sodium Salicylate is the sodium salt of salicylic acid, so it dissolves in water where the acid itself does not. It is used as a mild BHA exfoliant and a preservative booster. The panel names it fifteenth on this shampoo's list, beside Tripeptide-132 HCl.

How to use

  1. Use the PEPTIDE-132 Ultra Perfect Hair Bonding Shampoo in place of your usual shampoo, on hair wet all the way through.
  2. A palmful, worked into a lather in your hands first, then massaged into the scalp with fingertips rather than nails.
  3. Rinse thoroughly, then follow with your usual conditioner or treatment through the mid-lengths and ends.
  4. As often as you already wash. Do not pile it straight onto dry hair; a shampoo needs water in the hair to spread at all.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this shampoo on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Tripeptide-132 HCl on the list.
  • This list names Fragrance, Hexyl Cinnamal and Parfum, so skip it if fragrance components are something you avoid.
  • Citric Acid on this list makes this shampoo an exfoliating step, so do not stack it with another one on the same night.

  • Niacinamide helps reduce the appearance of pores in a few ways. By strengthening the skin barrier and improving elasticity, pores appear less noticeable and more even.
