How it works
The Master Patch Intensive is a 90ea patch, used apply a patch from it to clean, dry skin at the end of the evening routine. The exfoliant it is built around is Salicylic Acid, named fifth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), so the exfoliant is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Salicylic Acid stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the patch format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the patch COSRX sells in Korea, Salicylic Acid and all.

Where does this patch go in my routine?
Apply a patch from it to clean, dry skin at the end of the evening routine. Toner goes on before it, and the rest of the routine goes on after you take the patch off. If you are adding it to a routine you already like, give it a week on its own first, so what you see is the Salicylic Acid and not three changes at once.
Is this the Korean-market patch or a US version?
The Korean-market one, Salicylic Acid and all. We match this patch to its Korean barcode before it reaches the shelf, which is the check that tells you which market release you are holding.
What else is on the list besides Salicylic Acid?
Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin). The order they are printed in on this patch's panel is the order on the box, so you can see where Salicylic Acid sits relative to them. Salicylic Acid itself is named fifth on it.
Full INCI (6): Cellulose Gum, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-20 Olefin), Polyisobutene, Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Salicylic Acid, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil

6 of 6 explained
- Cellulose Gum thickener
- Cellulose Gum is plant cellulose modified to dissolve in water. It thickens, holds particles in suspension and gives a smooth, slippery body.
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-20 Olefin) emollient
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin) is a synthetic hydrocarbon emollient. It gives a smooth, silicone-like glide and is completely stable, so it does not go rancid.
- Polyisobutene film former
- Polyisobutene is a synthetic polymer that forms a flexible, water-resistant film. It gives gloss and holds a formula in place, which is why it appears in lip products and long-wear textures.
- Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer film former
- Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer is a synthetic rubber used in patch adhesives. Its contribution is elasticity: the film stretches with skin instead of lifting at the edge.
- Salicylic Acid exfoliant
- Salicylic Acid is a BHA, and the only common exfoliant that is oil soluble, so it can work inside a pore rather than only on the surface. It loosens the dead cells that block pores and is used for the look of congested, oily skin.
- Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil fragrance component
- Tea Tree Leaf Oil is an essential oil from an Australian shrub, carrying terpinen-4-ol. Korean formulas use it in products aimed at blemish-prone skin; it is potent, aromatic, and one of the essential oils most likely to bother reactive skin.

How to use
- Press one Master Patch Intensive onto clean, dry skin at the end of the evening routine.
- Pick the patch that covers the spot with a small margin, then press from the middle out until the edges lie flat.
- Leave it on overnight, take it off in the morning, and use a fresh one the next evening if the spot is still there.
- One patch per spot per night. Do not stick one over a serum or a cream, and do not reuse one that has been peeled off.
Worth knowing
- This formula carries an active acid, so pairing it with another exfoliant in the same routine is worth spacing out.

This one carries salicylic acid and tea tree leaf oil alongside the dressing itself, which is cellulose gum to take up fluid with polyisobutene and a styrene isoprene copolymer holding the film together.

What professionals say
What professionals say
What skin-care professionals say about the key actives in this formula, quoted from the medical sources linked beside each.
BHAs like salicylic acid get really deep into the pores, whereas the water-soluble ones don't go as deep.
Samantha Stein, PA-CDermatology physician assistant, Cleveland Clinic I think it's fair to say I've seen lots of patients use tea tree oil for a variety of skin issues. It's a natural remedy that is known to help.
