Cetyl Alcohol fatty alcohol

Cetyl Alcohol is a waxy fatty alcohol from coconut or palm, unrelated to drying ethanol. It thickens creams, stabilises the emulsion and leaves skin feeling softer.

Behentrimonium Methosulfate emulsifier

A mild cationic conditioning agent built from rapeseed fatty acid. It sits on the surface with a positive charge, which is why it detangles and smooths, and it also helps hold an emulsion together.

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil emollient

Sunflower Seed Oil is high in linoleic acid, the fatty acid dry and blemish-prone skin is often short of. It is a light, non-fragrant emollient and one of the better tolerated plant oils.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil emollient

Argan Oil is pressed from the argan kernel and is rich in oleic and linoleic acids plus vitamin E. It is a medium-weight emollient that absorbs reasonably fast.

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil emollient

Castor Oil is thick, glossy and unusually good at dissolving pigment, which is why it dominates lip and cleansing-balm formulas. It is a heavy emollient.

Laminaria Japonica Extract plant extract

Laminaria Japonica is kombu kelp. Its extract carries alginates, minerals and iodine, and it is used as a hydrating, mineral-rich ingredient.

Acorus Calamus Root Extract plant extract

Sweet flag root extract, an aromatic wetland rhizome long used in Korean herbal practice. It is a conditioning plant extract.

Centella Asiatica Extract plant extract

Centella Asiatica is the plant behind the whole cica category, sold as gotu kola or Madagascar centella. Its extract is the anchor of Korean formulas built for easily reddened skin, and its work is done by four triterpenes: asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid.
