How to use
- Use the Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask after toner, in place of your serum step, in the evening.
- Unfold and apply the mask evenly over the face. Leave on for 20 minutes, then remove and gently pat the remaining essence into the skin. Smooth any leftover product onto the neck, hands, or other dry areas.
- Take it off at the time printed on the pack, pat in the essence left behind rather than rinsing, then go straight to your moisturizer.
- Two or three evenings a week is a normal rhythm. Do not leave it on past its time; a sheet that has gone dry takes moisture back off the face as it goes.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask 22g X 5ea. Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Does this product contain essential oils?
Yes. The ingredient list for Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask 22g X 5ea includes Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil and Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil. Aromatic plant oils are listed under their botanical name rather than as fragrance, so they are named separately from any fragrance or parfum entry.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
No. None of the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually appear on the ingredient list for Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask 22g X 5ea. They are the components most often reported as contact allergens, which is why that rule names them one by one.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask 22g X 5ea names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

27 of 28 explained
- Water/Aqua/Eau solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Dipropylene Glycol humectant
- Dipropylene Glycol is a glycol used as a solvent and a light humectant. Its main job is keeping the rest of the formula dissolved and the texture fluid rather than adding hydration of its own.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Panthenol humectant
- Panthenol is pro-vitamin B5: skin converts it to pantothenic acid. It is a humectant that holds water and leaves skin feeling soft and less tight, and it is one of the ingredients formulators reach for when a formula also contains something harsh.
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin) emollient
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin) is a synthetic hydrocarbon emollient. It gives a smooth, silicone-like glide and is completely stable, so it does not go rancid.
- Dicaprylyl Carbonate emollient
- Dicaprylyl Carbonate is a light, fast-spreading emollient with a notably dry finish. It is chosen where a formula has to spread thin without leaving a heavy film.
- Betaine humectant
- Betaine is a sugar-beet-derived humectant that cells use to hold water. In a formula it hydrates and takes the edge off cleansers and acids, which is why it often appears alongside them.
- Methyl Trimethicone silicone
- Methyl Trimethicone is a light, volatile silicone chosen for a notably dry finish. It thins a formula and disperses powders evenly.
- Ceramide NP barrier lipid
- Ceramide NP is the most used cosmetic ceramide, the same class of lipid that makes up roughly half the mortar between cells in the outer layer of skin. Added to a cream it slots into that structure, which is why ceramide formulas feel less leaky rather than merely greasy.
- Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate emulsifier
- Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate is an amino-acid-derived emulsifier. It holds oil and water together and is mild enough for formulas built for reactive skin.
- Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate is a mild sugar-derived emulsifier that holds oil into water and thickens slightly.
15 more explained
- Allantoin active
- Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Cholesterol barrier lipid
- Cholesterol is the third of the three lipids the outer layer of skin is built from, with ceramides and fatty acids. Formulas that carry all three are following the ratio skin itself holds.
- Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil fragrance component
- Pelargonium Graveolens is rose geranium. Its flower oil is an essential oil used to scent a formula, carrying citronellol and geraniol.
- Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil emollient
- Olive Fruit Oil is high in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is a rich emollient that suits dry skin and is heavy enough that blemish-prone skin often does not get on with it.
- Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil fragrance component
- Bergamot Fruit Oil is a citrus essential oil and the top note of eau de cologne. It scents a formula; citrus oils are the aromatic class most likely to bother reactive skin.
- Cetearyl Alcohol fatty alcohol
- Cetearyl Alcohol is a waxy solid, not the drying kind of alcohol. It is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohols used to thicken a cream and keep oil and water from separating, and it softens skin as it does so.
- Behenyl Alcohol fatty alcohol
- Behenyl Alcohol is a long-chain fatty alcohol used to thicken and stabilise a cream. It gives a richer, more velvety body than cetyl alcohol.
- Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer thickener
- This is a carbomer relative with fatty side chains, so it thickens and stabilises an emulsion at the same time. It gives a light gel-cream body rather than a heavy one.
- Hydrogenated Lecithin emulsifier
- Hydrogenated Lecithin is lecithin with its unsaturated bonds filled in, which makes it far more stable. It emulsifies and is the standard shell for the liposomes that carry actives into the outer layer of skin.
- Tromethamine pH adjuster
- Tromethamine neutralises acidic thickeners such as carbomer so they gel, and holds a formula near skin-friendly pH. It is used at a fraction of a percent.
- Glyceryl Stearate SE emulsifier
- Glyceryl Stearate SE is the self-emulsifying grade, supplied with a little soap already built in so it can hold an emulsion with less help. It thickens and softens like the plain form.
- Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil fragrance component
- Sage essential oil. It scents a formula and carries the plant's own aromatic compounds, which is also why it can bother reactive skin.
- Sodium Phytate chelator
- Sodium Phytate is a rice-derived chelator used in place of EDTA. It ties up trace metals so the formula stays stable and its colour and scent hold.
- Tocopherol antioxidant
- Tocopherol is vitamin E. It is an oil-soluble antioxidant that protects the oils in a formula from going rancid and works on skin as an emollient, and it is regularly paired with vitamin C because each keeps the other going for longer.
