How it works
The Ginseng Eye Cream is a 30g eye cream, used after serum and before moisturizer, morning and evening. The plant extract it is built around is Panax Ginseng Root Extract, named fourteenth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Allantoin and Adenosine, so the plant extract is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Panax Ginseng Root Extract stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the eye cream format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the eye cream I'm From sells in Korea, Panax Ginseng Root Extract and all.
Key benefits
- Panax Ginseng Root Extract, the plant extract this eye cream is built around
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Allantoin and Adenosine on the same list, actives
- Angelica Gigas Root Extract on the same list, a plant extract
- Boswellia Serrata Resin Extract and Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract further down the same list
- Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract and Beeswax further down the same list
- Panax Ginseng Root Extract named fourteenth on the manufacturer list printed on this page
Inside the formula
Inside the formula
Where does this eye cream go in my routine?
After serum and before moisturizer, morning and evening. Anything thinner than an eye cream goes on before it, and anything richer goes on after. If you are adding it to a routine you already like, give it a week on its own first, so what you see is the Panax Ginseng Root Extract and not three changes at once.
Is this the Korean-market eye cream or a US version?
The Korean-market one, Panax Ginseng Root Extract and all. We match this eye cream to its Korean barcode before it reaches the shelf, which is the check that tells you which market release you are holding.
What else is on the list besides Panax Ginseng Root Extract?
Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Allantoin and Adenosine. The order they are printed in on this eye cream's panel is the order on the box, so you can see where Panax Ginseng Root Extract sits relative to them. Further down the same panel: Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Boswellia Serrata Resin Extract and Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, essential oils, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

32 of 33 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride emollient
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Cetearyl Olivate emulsifier
- Cetearyl Olivate is the water-loving half of the olive-derived emulsifier pair. With sorbitan olivate it builds emulsions whose lipid profile is close to skin's own.
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter emollient
- Shea Butter is the fat pressed from the shea nut, rich in oleic and stearic acids and unsaponifiable plant sterols. It is a heavy emollient and partial occlusive, which is why it sits in balms and night creams rather than in essences.
- Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil emollient
- Jojoba Oil is a liquid wax rather than a true oil, and its structure is close to human sebum, which is why it absorbs so readily. It is an emollient that leaves a soft, non-greasy finish.
- Cetearyl Alcohol fatty alcohol
- Cetearyl Alcohol is a waxy solid, not the drying kind of alcohol. It is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohols used to thicken a cream and keep oil and water from separating, and it softens skin as it does so.
- Sorbitan Olivate emulsifier
- Sorbitan Olivate is an olive-derived emulsifier, the oil-loving half of the pair sold as Olivem. It holds oil into water and leaves a light, non-waxy feel.
- Beeswax occlusive
- Beeswax is the wax bees build comb from. In a formula it thickens the oil phase and forms a breathable, water-resisting film, which is what makes a balm hold its shape.
- Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer thickener
- This is the thickener behind most gel-cream textures. It builds a soft, bouncy gel that collapses to a light fluid as it is rubbed in.
- Isododecane solvent
- Isododecane is a light, volatile hydrocarbon. It carries pigments and film formers on smoothly and then evaporates, leaving the film behind and nothing oily.
20 more explained
- Squalane emollient
- Squalane is the stable, saturated version of squalene, a lipid human skin already makes. It is a light emollient that absorbs quickly, does not oxidise, and is one of the few oils widely considered safe for blemish-prone skin. Most cosmetic squalane is now from sugarcane or olive rather than shark.
- Panax Ginseng Root Extract plant extract
- Ginseng Root Extract is the signature ingredient of Korean traditional skincare, carrying ginsenosides. It is used for the look of tired, dull skin, and brands often ferment it to break the ginsenosides into smaller forms.
- Dimethicone silicone
- Dimethicone is the most used cosmetic silicone. It forms a breathable film that smooths the surface, slows water leaving skin, and gives the slip that makes a primer or cream feel silky. It is inert and does not penetrate.
- Betaine humectant
- Betaine is a sugar-beet-derived humectant that cells use to hold water. In a formula it hydrates and takes the edge off cleansers and acids, which is why it often appears alongside them.
- Angelica Gigas Root Extract plant extract
- Korean angelica root, a staple of Korean herbal medicine. Its extract carries coumarins and is used as a conditioning herbal extract.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer silicone
- This is a silicone elastomer, a soft springy gel. It fills the look of fine texture and gives the velvety, blurred finish of a primer.
- Glyceryl Caprylate emulsifier
- Glyceryl Caprylate is a mild emulsifier that also makes a formula less hospitable to microbes, so it is often part of a preservative-free system.
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate active
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate is a water-soluble salt derived from licorice root. It is the licorice fraction Korean formulas use for the look of redness, and it is far more stable in water than the whole extract.
- Allantoin active
- Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin.
- Xanthan Gum thickener
- Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide made by fermenting sugar. It thickens a watery formula into a gel and holds the whole thing in suspension so nothing separates. Too much of it and a serum turns stringy, which is why it appears in fractions of a percent.
- Adenosine active
- Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated.
- Sorbitan Isostearate emulsifier
- Sorbitan Isostearate is a mild emulsifier that holds water into oil, the direction a cleansing balm or an oil-based cream needs.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Boswellia Serrata Resin Extract plant extract
- Frankincense resin extract. The resin carries boswellic acids and aromatic terpenes, and in a formula it is a botanical extract that also contributes scent.
- Disodium EDTA chelator
- EDTA is a chelator: it locks up trace metal ions from water and packaging that would otherwise turn a formula cloudy, off-colour or rancid. It does nothing to skin and appears at a fraction of a percent.
- Methylpropanediol humectant
- Methylpropanediol is a small glycol used to hydrate and to help water-soluble actives penetrate the outer layer of skin more evenly. It leaves almost no tack, which suits watery textures.
- Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate humectant
- Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate is hyaluronic acid modified to be part oil-loving, so it clings to skin instead of rinsing away. Formulators call it the one that stays put.
- Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract plant extract
- Zanthoxylum Piperitum is Korean pepper. Its fruit extract is used as a conditioning plant extract and is often paired with pulsatilla and usnea in Korean formulas.
- Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract plant extract
- Beard lichen extract, carrying usnic acid. It resists microbes, so formulas use it both as a plant extract and as part of a preservative system.
