How it works
The Honey Mask is a 120g sheet mask, used after toner, in place of your serum step, in the evening. The humectant it is built around is Honey Extract, named first on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Bee Venom, Tocopheryl Acetate and Beta-Glucan, so the humectant is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Honey Extract stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the sheet mask format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the sheet mask I'm From sells in Korea, Honey Extract and all.
Key benefits
- Honey Extract, the humectant this sheet mask is built around
- Bee Venom on the same list, an active
- Tocopheryl Acetate on the same list, an antioxidant
- Beta-Glucan on the same list, a polysaccharide
- Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract and Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract further down the same list
- Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract and Punica Granatum Fruit Extract further down the same list
Inside the formula
Inside the formula
Where does this sheet mask go in my routine?
After toner, in place of your serum step, in the evening. Toner goes on before it, and the rest of the routine goes on after you take the sheet mask off. If you are adding it to a routine you already like, give it a week on its own first, so what you see is the Honey Extract and not three changes at once.
Is this the Korean-market sheet mask or a US version?
The Korean-market one, Honey Extract and all. We match this sheet mask to its Korean barcode before it reaches the shelf, which is the check that tells you which market release you are holding.
What else is on the list besides Honey Extract?
Bee Venom, Tocopheryl Acetate and Beta-Glucan. The order they are printed in on this sheet mask's panel is the order on the box, so you can see where Honey Extract sits relative to them. Further down the same panel: Propolis Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract and Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, essential oils, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants and added color.
Full INCI (31): Honey, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Microcrystalline Wax, Polysorbate 20, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Beeswax, Tocopheryl Acetate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Extract, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Water, Bambusa Vulgaris Water, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Propolis Extract, Beta-Glucan, Bee Venom, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin

27 of 31 explained
- Honey humectant
- Honey is a natural humectant loaded with sugars and trace acids. In a formula it holds water at the surface and leaves a soft, cushioned feel.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride emollient
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.
- Disteardimonium Hectorite thickener
- Disteardimonium Hectorite is a modified clay used to thicken the oil phase and stop pigments settling to the bottom of the bottle.
- Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil emollient
- Macadamia Seed Oil is unusually high in palmitoleic acid, a fatty acid that human sebum also contains, which is why it absorbs faster than most nut oils. It is a cushioning emollient for dry skin.
- Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil emollient
- Sunflower Seed Oil is high in linoleic acid, the fatty acid dry and blemish-prone skin is often short of. It is a light, non-fragrant emollient and one of the better tolerated plant oils.
- Pentylene Glycol humectant
- Pentylene Glycol hydrates and, like the other longer-chain glycols, makes a formula less hospitable to microbes so the preservative system can be lighter. It also improves how evenly a product spreads.
- Microcrystalline Wax occlusive
- Microcrystalline Wax is a fine-crystalled petroleum wax. It gives balms and sticks body and flexibility and holds oil from separating out.
- Polysorbate 20 emulsifier
- Polysorbate 20 is a solubiliser: it dissolves small amounts of oil or fragrance into a watery formula so nothing separates or floats.
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter emollient
- Shea Butter is the fat pressed from the shea nut, rich in oleic and stearic acids and unsaponifiable plant sterols. It is a heavy emollient and partial occlusive, which is why it sits in balms and night creams rather than in essences.
- Beeswax occlusive
- Beeswax is the wax bees build comb from. In a formula it thickens the oil phase and forms a breathable, water-resisting film, which is what makes a balm hold its shape.
- Tocopheryl Acetate antioxidant
- Tocopheryl Acetate is a stable vitamin E ester that skin converts to tocopherol. It is used as an antioxidant and a light emollient and holds up better than plain vitamin E in a formula.
- Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil emollient
- Hazelnut oil, a dry-feeling oil high in oleic acid. It absorbs quickly and is used where a formula must not read as greasy.
15 more explained
- Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil emollient
- Jojoba Oil is a liquid wax rather than a true oil, and its structure is close to human sebum, which is why it absorbs so readily. It is an emollient that leaves a soft, non-greasy finish.
- Snail Secretion Filtrate humectant
- Snail Secretion Filtrate is the mucin a snail produces, filtered for cosmetic use, and it is the ingredient the Korean snail category is built on. It carries glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid, and it is used for hydration and a smoother-looking surface.
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Bambusa Vulgaris Water plant extract
- Bamboo water, the sap or leaf distillate of bamboo, used in place of plain water. It carries silica and minerals and is a dilute base ingredient.
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water plant extract
- Aloe leaf water, the dilute form of aloe used in place of plain water. It carries some of the leaf polysaccharides and sugars.
- Propolis Extract plant extract
- Propolis is the resin bees collect from tree buds and use to seal the hive. It is rich in flavonoids, carries a warm amber colour and scent, and is used for the look of dull, stressed skin. It is a bee product, so it is worth knowing about if you react to those.
- Beta-Glucan polysaccharide
- Beta-Glucan is a polysaccharide from oats or yeast. It holds a large amount of water, forms a soothing film, and is one of the ingredients formulators reach for in products aimed at reactive skin.
- Bee Venom active
- Bee venom collected from honeybees, carrying the peptide melittin along with enzymes. It is a Korean formulation ingredient used at very low levels, and it is a known allergen for people sensitive to stings.
- Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Grapefruit fruit extract, carrying fruit acids, sugars and flavonoids. It is used as a conditioning, antioxidant-rich extract.
- Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract plant extract
- Gosam root extract, a bitter traditional Korean herbal root. It is used as a conditioning extract, usually in blends aimed at the look of congested skin.
- Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract plant extract
- Eucalyptus leaf extract, the water-based extract rather than the essential oil. It carries tannins and flavonoids with only a trace of the aroma.
- Punica Granatum Fruit Extract plant extract
- Pomegranate fruit extract, carrying ellagic acid and punicalagins. It is used as a plant antioxidant.
- Bambusa Vulgaris Extract plant extract
- Bamboo extract. Bamboo concentrates silica as it grows, so the extract is used as a hydrating, mineral-bearing ingredient.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.

How to use
- After cleansing, 1 to 2 times a week.
- Apply an even layer, avoiding the eye area.
- Leave 10 to 15 minutes.
- Rinse with lukewarm water.
Worth knowing
- Patch test this sheet mask on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Honey Extract on the list.
- Introduce this sheet mask on its own for the first week, so anything your skin does is traceable to the Honey Extract rather than to three changes at once.
