How it works

The GIM PDRN Boosting Glow Pad 200ml/ is a product. The active it is built around is Sodium DNA, named twenty-eighth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Niacinamide, Allantoin and Adenosine, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Sodium DNA stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the product format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the product Isntree sells in Korea, Sodium DNA and all.

Key benefits

  • Sodium DNA, the active this product is built around
  • Niacinamide, Allantoin and Adenosine on the same list, actives
  • Gluconolactone on the same list, an exfoliant
  • Capryloyl Salicylic Acid and Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 further down the same list
  • Hexapeptide-9 and Nonapeptide-1 further down the same list
  • Sodium DNA named twenty-eighth on the manufacturer list printed on this page

Key actives

Sodium DNAactive

Sodium DNA is the salt of DNA, in Korean skincare almost always salmon derived, and it is the ingredient behind the PDRN category. It is used as a humectant and for the look of tired skin; the fragments themselves are what the name PDRN refers to. The name on the box points at it, and it is named twenty-eighth on this product's own ingredient list.

Niacinamideactive

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. The panel names it third on this product's list, beside Sodium DNA.

Allantoinactive

Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin. The panel names it twenty-second on this product's list, beside Sodium DNA.

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. It is named fortieth on this product's list, alongside Sodium DNA.

Gluconolactoneexfoliant

Gluconolactone is a PHA, the gentlest exfoliant class. The panel names it seventh on this product's list, beside Sodium DNA.

How to use

  1. Take one pad and wipe outward from the centre of the face with the textured side.
  2. Turn it over and press the smooth side across the cheeks and forehead to leave the essence behind.
  3. Move straight on to your serum while the surface is still damp from the pad.
  4. Do not press hard or scrub, because the pressure rather than the pad is what leaves skin looking sore.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this product on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Sodium DNA on the list.
  • Gluconolactone and Salicylic Acid on this list makes this product an exfoliating step, so do not stack it with another one on the same night.

  • Niacinamide helps reduce the appearance of pores in a few ways. By strengthening the skin barrier and improving elasticity, pores appear less noticeable and more even.
