How it works
Microcrystalline Wax leads the ingredient panel on this sleeping mask. Microcrystalline Wax is a fine-crystalled petroleum wax. It gives balms and sticks body and flexibility and holds oil from separating out. On this panel it sits alongside Synthetic Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax and Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax. Synthetic Wax is a purpose-built hydrocarbon wax used to structure balms and sticks. It is odourless and does not oxidise, unlike most natural waxes.
Key benefits
- Microcrystalline Wax named on this product's own ingredient panel, near the top of it

- Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax on the same panel, the formula's occlusive
- 20 g to a unit
- Korean-market formula, with its Korean barcode and batch code intact on the box
Inside the formula
Inside the formula
What is Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g?
It is Laneige's lip care product. Its own Korean-market ingredient list names Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Hyaluronate. We stock Laneige's Korean-market formula, the version sold on shelves in Korea rather than a US-shelf reformulation.
How do I use Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g?
Sweep Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g over lips whenever they feel dry, and again as the last step before bed. Used consistently on lips at any point in a routine, and again before bed, give it a few weeks in that slot before judging whether it is working for you.
Who is Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g suited for?
It suits normal, dry, combination, aimed at dry, flaky-feeling lips. Patch test on a small area first if you are new to this formula or to the brand. Give the formula a few uses in that slot in your routine before deciding whether it fits your needs.
Is Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g the authentic Korean formula?
Yes. We stock Laneige's Korean-market formula rather than a version reformulated for US shelves. The unit sold is the one listed on Korean shelves, with the Korean barcode and batch code intact on the box.
How should I store Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g?
Keep Lip Sleeping Mask Berry 20g away from direct sunlight and heat, and close the cap fully between uses so the formula stays stable for its full shelf life. A cool, dry spot out of a steamy bathroom is a better home for it than a windowsill or a shower shelf.
Not on the ingredient list below: essential oils, parabens and sulfate surfactants.

37 of 46 explained
- Diisostearyl Malate emollient
- Diisostearyl Malate is a thick, glossy ester used to hold pigment in suspension and give a cushioned shine. It is the standard emollient in lip products.
- Hydrogenated Polyisobutene emollient
- Hydrogenated Polyisobutene is a stabilised synthetic hydrocarbon used in place of mineral oil. It is an emollient that leaves a smooth, cushioned film.
- Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate emollient
- This is a heavy plant-sterol ester used in balms and cleansing oils. It softens skin, holds pigment and gives a thick, cushioned glide.
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin) emollient
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin) is a synthetic hydrocarbon emollient. It gives a smooth, silicone-like glide and is completely stable, so it does not go rancid.
- Polybutene film former
- Polybutene is a thick, sticky synthetic liquid polymer. It supplies the tack in a spot patch and the cushioned shine in a lip product.
- Microcrystalline Wax occlusive
- Microcrystalline Wax is a fine-crystalled petroleum wax. It gives balms and sticks body and flexibility and holds oil from separating out.
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter emollient
- Shea Butter is the fat pressed from the shea nut, rich in oleic and stearic acids and unsaponifiable plant sterols. It is a heavy emollient and partial occlusive, which is why it sits in balms and night creams rather than in essences.
- Synthetic Wax occlusive
- Synthetic Wax is a purpose-built hydrocarbon wax used to structure balms and sticks. It is odourless and does not oxidise, unlike most natural waxes.
- Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax occlusive
- Candelilla wax, from a desert shrub, and the usual plant substitute for beeswax. It gives sticks and balms a firm, slightly brittle set.
- Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer thickener
- A rubbery polymer that gels oils and gives a formula cushion and cling. It is usually declared alongside its ethylene/propylene/styrene partner.
- Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer thickener
- A rubbery hydrocarbon polymer used to thicken oil phases and stop pigments settling. It is common in lip and stick formulas.
- Mica (Ci 77019) colorant
- Mica is a mineral ground into fine flakes. It scatters light, so it lightens a shade and gives the soft glow of a tinted or illuminating product.
25 more explained
- Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter emollient
- Murumuru butter, pressed from the seed of an Amazonian palm. It is high in lauric and myristic acid, so it is firm at room temperature and melts on contact with skin.
- Dimethicone silicone
- Dimethicone is the most used cosmetic silicone. It forms a breathable film that smooths the surface, slows water leaving skin, and gives the slip that makes a primer or cream feel silky. It is inert and does not penetrate.
- Fragrance/Parfum fragrance
- Fragrance, or Parfum, is a single declaration standing for a whole scent blend, which can be dozens of materials. Regulators allow it as a trade secret, so a list showing only this word does not say what the scent is made of. It is the most common trigger named by people with reactive skin.
- Dehydroacetic Acid preservative
- A preservative that works best in acidic formulas and is almost always paired with benzyl alcohol. It is one of the standard systems in products built without parabens.
- Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax occlusive
- Carnauba wax comes from a Brazilian palm leaf and is the hardest wax in common cosmetic use. A small amount raises the melting point of a stick sharply.
- Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate is a water-in-oil emulsifier used in balms and rich creams, and a good pigment disperser.
- Yellow 6 Lake (Ci 15985) colorant
- Yellow 6 Lake is a synthetic orange-yellow dye fixed onto a mineral base so it cannot dissolve and bleed. It sits on the surface as a pigment.
- Red 6 (Ci 15850) colorant
- Red 6 is a synthetic blue-red dye used as a lip and cheek colour. Its laked form, anchored to a mineral base, is declared as Red 7 Lake.
- Polyhydroxystearic Acid dispersant
- A polymer of hydroxystearic acid whose whole job is keeping mineral powders and pigments evenly suspended in oil instead of settling or streaking.
- Water/Aqua Eau solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Alcohol solvent
- Alcohol here means ethanol. It dissolves ingredients water cannot, evaporates fast so a formula sets quickly and does not feel heavy, and thins texture. In quantity it can leave dry or reactive skin feeling tight, which is why many Korean formulas avoid it and some deliberately use it for a fast, weightless finish.
- Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract plant extract
- Goji berry fruit extract, the gugija brewed as tea in Korea. It carries carotenoids and polysaccharides and is used as an antioxidant conditioning extract.
- Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Cranberry fruit extract, acidic and high in proanthocyanidins. It is used as an antioxidant berry extract.
- Fragaria Chiloensis (Strawberry) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Beach strawberry fruit extract. It carries fruit acids, vitamin C and anthocyanins and is used as an antioxidant conditioning extract.
- Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Raspberry fruit extract, carrying fruit acids, sugars and anthocyanins. It is used as an antioxidant-rich conditioning extract.
- Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract plant extract
- Lowbush blueberry fruit extract, high in anthocyanins. Berry extracts are used as plant antioxidants and can tint a formula.
- Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract plant extract
- Coffee Seed Extract carries caffeine and chlorogenic acid. It is used as an antioxidant extract and, in eye and body formulas, for the look of puffiness.
- Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract plant extract
- Quinoa seed extract. It carries complete plant protein, saponins and minerals and is used as a conditioning extract.
- Magnesium Sulfate mineral
- Magnesium Sulfate is Epsom salt, used as a mineral salt in the water phase. Despite the name it is not a cleansing sulfate and does not foam.
- Calcium Chloride mineral
- Calcium Chloride is a mineral salt used in traces to balance a formula and to firm up gels made with alginate or gellan gum.
- Sodium Hyaluronate humectant
- Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt of hyaluronic acid, and it is what most products labelled hyaluronic actually contain. The salt dissolves more readily and the molecule is smaller, so it sits in the outer layer of skin rather than only on top of it.
- Beta-Glucan polysaccharide
- Beta-Glucan is a polysaccharide from oats or yeast. It holds a large amount of water, forms a soothing film, and is one of the ingredients formulators reach for in products aimed at reactive skin.
- Ascorbyl Glucoside antioxidant
- Ascorbyl Glucoside is vitamin C bound to glucose, which keeps it stable until enzymes in skin release it. It is a mild, slow-release route to a vitamin C formula.
