How it works

This ampoule is the shortest formula in Round Lab's Pine Calming Cica line, and a short list is the point when skin is already reacting to things. The four purified centella compounds are all declared on it, asiaticoside, asiatic acid, madecassoside and madecassic acid, alongside glycoproteins and neem leaf extract. There is a little capryloyl salicylic acid as well, so it clears the surface lightly rather than exfoliating. It sits after toner and before moisturizer, and it layers thin enough to go under a cream without pilling. Use it twice a day through a reactive stretch, then keep it in the routine rather than stopping the moment skin settles.

Key benefits

  • Asiaticoside: another of centella's active triterpenes
  • Asiatic Acid: the third of centella's core triterpenes
  • Madecassoside: a centella-derived compound carried for its calming reputation
  • Madecassic Acid: one of centella's active triterpenes
  • Opens with Water, Glycoproteins, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract and Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, the ingredients Round Lab put first
  • No fragrance or parfum on the ingredient list

How to use

  1. Use the Pine Calming Cica Ampoule after toner and before moisturizer, morning and evening.
  2. Half a dropper, or two or three drops, is the amount for a whole face. Press it in rather than spreading it thin.
  3. It sits between the toner and the moisturizer, and it is the layer most worth leaving alone for a minute before anything covers it.
  4. Twice a day, every day. Do not use it as a spot application on one area; an ampoule is a routine step, not a targeted dose.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test on the inner arm before first use on the face, especially if trying this brand or formula for the first time.
  • Store away from direct sunlight and heat so the formula and any actives inside stay stable through its shelf life.
