How to use
- Use the Truecica Mineral Calming Tone-Up Suncream as the last step of the morning routine, over moisturizer, or in place of foundation.
- Dot it over the face and blend outward with fingertips or a damp sponge, then build a second thin layer only where you want more cover.
- Moisturizer first, this last. Powder or blush can go over it once it has set for a minute.
- Every morning you want the finish. Do not apply it in one thick pass to get more cover; two thin layers sit flatter and last longer.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for SOME BY MI Truecica Mineral Calming Tone-Up Suncream SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml. Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Does this product contain essential oils?
Yes. The ingredient list for SOME BY MI Truecica Mineral Calming Tone-Up Suncream SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml includes Lavandula Angustifolia (lavender) Oil. Aromatic plant oils are listed under their botanical name rather than as fragrance, so they are named separately from any fragrance or parfum entry.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
Yes. Linalool and Limonene appear on the ingredient list for SOME BY MI Truecica Mineral Calming Tone-Up Suncream SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml. These belong to the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually rather than folded into a fragrance entry.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for SOME BY MI Truecica Mineral Calming Tone-Up Suncream SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, parabens, sulfate surfactants and mineral oil or petrolatum.

38 of 42 explained
- Melaleuca Alternifolia (tea Tree) Leaf Water plant extract
- Tea Tree Leaf Water is the distillate, used in place of plain water as a base. It carries a trace of the plant's aroma and none of the essential oil's strength.
- Cyclopentasiloxane silicone
- Cyclopentasiloxane is a volatile silicone: it spreads a formula thin and smooth then evaporates, leaving no residue. It is the silicone behind a dry, powdery primer finish.
- Butyloctyl Salicylate emollient
- Butyloctyl Salicylate is an ester used as a solvent and emollient, particularly for dissolving powdered ingredients evenly. Despite the salicylate name it is not an exfoliant.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl P-Cresol antioxidant
- A light stabiliser. Its job is to keep the formula itself from degrading in light, so it is a product-stability ingredient rather than one aimed at skin.
- PEG-10 Dimethicone silicone
- PEG-10 Dimethicone is a silicone with a water-loving chain attached, so it bridges the silicone and water phases. It is used as an emulsifier and to give a light, silky feel.
- Niacinamide active
- Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.
- Phenyl Trimethicone silicone
- Phenyl Trimethicone is a silicone with a higher refractive index than most, so it adds visible gloss as well as slip. It is common in glow and lip textures.
- Disteardimonium Hectorite thickener
- Disteardimonium Hectorite is a modified clay used to thicken the oil phase and stop pigments settling to the bottom of the bottle.
- Magnesium Sulfate mineral
- Magnesium Sulfate is Epsom salt, used as a mineral salt in the water phase. Despite the name it is not a cleansing sulfate and does not foam.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Caprylic/Capric Glycerides emollient
- The partial glycerides of the same short coconut fatty acids used to make caprylic/capric triglyceride. They are lighter than the triglyceride and help dissolve actives.
26 more explained
- Dimethicone silicone
- Dimethicone is the most used cosmetic silicone. It forms a breathable film that smooths the surface, slows water leaving skin, and gives the slip that makes a primer or cream feel silky. It is inert and does not penetrate.
- Polymethylsilsesquioxane silicone
- Polymethylsilsesquioxane is a silicone resin in fine sphere form. It soft-focuses the look of pores and lines and gives a smooth, powdery finish.
- Aluminum Hydroxide absorbent
- Aluminum Hydroxide is a mineral powder used to coat pigments so they disperse evenly, and to absorb a little oil. It is not an antiperspirant salt.
- Stearic Acid fatty acid
- Stearic Acid is a saturated fatty acid from plant fats, and one of the three lipid classes skin's own barrier is built from. In a formula it thickens, stabilises the emulsion and can be turned into a soap-style cleanser by adding a base.
- Sorbitan Sesquioleate emulsifier
- Sorbitan Sesquioleate is a water-in-oil emulsifier and pigment disperser. Cleansing oils use it so water can be worked into the oil at the rinse.
- Dimethicone Crosspolymer silicone
- Dimethicone Crosspolymer is silicone linked into a soft, springy network. It soaks up oil, blurs the look of texture, and gives the velvety feel of a primer.
- Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer silicone
- This is a silicone elastomer, a soft springy gel. It fills the look of fine texture and gives the velvety, blurred finish of a primer.
- Lavandula Angustifolia (lavender) Oil fragrance component
- Lavender Oil is an essential oil carrying linalool and linalyl acetate. It scents a formula, and linalool is one of the fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named separately.
- Adenosine active
- Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated.
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract plant extract
- Aloe Leaf Extract is mostly water with polysaccharides, amino acids and mild plant acids. It hydrates and leaves a light, cooling film, which is why it is the default after-sun ingredient.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract plant extract
- Centella Asiatica is the plant behind the whole cica category, sold as gotu kola or Madagascar centella. Its extract is the anchor of Korean formulas built for easily reddened skin, and its work is done by four triterpenes: asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Artemisia Vulgaris Extract plant extract
- Common mugwort extract. It is the same genus as the Korean mugwort artemisia princeps and is used for the look of reddened, reactive skin.
- Glycolipids barrier lipid
- Glycolipids are lipids joined to a sugar. In a formula they work partly as barrier lipids and partly as mild emulsifiers, holding oil and water together.
- Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate is a mild sugar-derived emulsifier and solubiliser used where a formula must stay clear.
- Resveratrol antioxidant
- Resveratrol is an antioxidant from grape skin and Japanese knotweed. It is used for the look of dullness and is often paired with ferulic acid, which keeps it stable.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Asiaticoside active
- Asiaticoside is one of the four active triterpenes isolated from centella and the most studied of them. Korean formulas name it separately when they want to show which fraction of the plant they standardised.
- Madecassic Acid active
- Madecassic Acid is the fourth centella triterpene. A list that names all four is telling you the extract was standardised rather than simply pressed, which is the difference between a cica claim and a cica formula.
- Asiatic Acid active
- Asiatic Acid is the third of centella's four triterpenes and the aglycone form, meaning it has no attached sugar. It is oil soluble, so it turns up in cica creams and balms more than in watery layers.
- Madecassoside active
- Madecassoside is the centella triterpene most associated with the look of redness, and the one brands lead with in cica products. It is water soluble and stable, so it appears in essences as readily as in creams.
- Triethoxycaprylylsilane silicone
- Triethoxycaprylylsilane is a coating applied to mineral powders so they disperse evenly and resist water rather than clumping.
- Linalool fragrance component
- Linalool is a floral aromatic found in lavender, bergamot and coriander. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be declared by name.
- Limonene fragrance component
- Limonene is the citrus-peel aromatic. It appears here because EU labelling requires 26 fragrance components to be named individually rather than hidden inside "fragrance", and it is one of them.
