How it works
The Therapy Vegan Blending Serum 50ml is a serum from THE FACE SHOP, formulated to do one job well within a layered Korean routine. Its texture is built for its step: light enough to sit under later layers, or rich enough to sit as a final step, depending on where a serum lands in the order of a routine. THE FACE SHOP builds its Korean-market lines around a single clear purpose per product, so this formula is not asked to double as a serum, a mask and a cream at once. It is the Korean-market version, the same formula sold in Korea, with its Korean-market batch coding intact rather than swapped for a US-only run. That sourcing is the difference between this listing and a US-shelf reformulation carrying the same name.
Key benefits
- A serum built by THE FACE SHOP, formulated to its own single step rather than stacking claims a serum does not need.
- Texture and finish are built for layering, so it sits under or over the rest of a routine without disrupting it.
- Comes as the Korean-market formula, sourced for the Korean market rather than reformulated for US shelves.
- Carries intact Korean-market packaging and batch coding, the same box a shopper would find on the shelf in Korea.
- Sized and packaged for daily use as part of a layered Korean routine, not a one-off treatment.
How to use
- Use it as the serum step, AM and PM, after toner and before moisturizer, giving it a moment to settle before the next step.
Where does this formula come from?
It comes from the Korean-market catalog rather than a US-shelf reformulation, and the packaging carries the same Korean-market batch coding a shopper would find on the box in Korea. That sourcing is checked on this row before the page is written, not assumed from the product name. It is the detail worth checking against the box on arrival.
Can I use this alongside other actives in my routine?
Yes. As a serum, it is built to sit at its own step, so it layers under or over the rest of a routine without crowding it. Introduce any new step on its own for the first week or two before adding it next to another strong active, so it is easy to tell which product is responsible for any change. Once it is settled into the routine, it layers the way any other serum in a Korean routine does.
How do I know this is authentic and not a US-reformulated version?
Check the box against the listing: an authentic Korean-market SKU carries Korean-primary packaging and an intact Korean-market batch code, not a US-only relabel. THE FACE SHOP's Korean-market formulas are sourced specifically to preserve that, rather than substituted for the US-shelf version some retailers carry under the same name.
What kind of texture does this serum have?
THE FACE SHOP formulates its serums for the finish that format is known for: light enough to layer without pilling, and finished for a Korean routine rather than a heavier US-market equivalent. It is built to sit at its own step, not to double as a different product type.
Is this serum fragranced?
Fragrance varies by formula, and the box lists what this specific version carries. If fragrance sensitivity is a concern, check the ingredient panel on the packaging on arrival before working it into a routine that already runs fragrance-free.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

32 of 36 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- Betaine humectant
- Betaine is a sugar-beet-derived humectant that cells use to hold water. In a formula it hydrates and takes the edge off cleansers and acids, which is why it often appears alongside them.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride emollient
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Panthenol humectant
- Panthenol is pro-vitamin B5: skin converts it to pantothenic acid. It is a humectant that holds water and leaves skin feeling soft and less tight, and it is one of the ingredients formulators reach for when a formula also contains something harsh.
- Thymus Vulgaris (thyme) Extract plant extract
- Thyme extract, carrying the phenols thymol and carvacrol. It is used as an antioxidant plant extract and resists microbes.
- Persea Gratissima (avocado) Oil emollient
- Avocado oil, rich in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is one of the heavier plant oils, which suits dry skin and cleansing balms.
- Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit Oil emollient
- Olive Fruit Oil is high in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is a rich emollient that suits dry skin and is heavy enough that blemish-prone skin often does not get on with it.
- Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract plant extract
- Marigold flower extract, one of the oldest plant ingredients used for the look of reddened, easily bothered skin. It carries carotenoids and flavonoids.
20 more explained
- Cymbopogon Martini Oil fragrance component
- Palmarosa oil, distilled from a grass related to lemongrass. It is high in geraniol and carries a rose like scent, so it is used as an aromatic oil.
- Santalum Album (sandalwood) Oil fragrance component
- Sandalwood oil, distilled from the heartwood. Its scent comes from santalol, and it is used as a base note that lasts on skin longer than most aromatic oils.
- Helianthus Annuus (sunflower) Seed Oil emollient
- Sunflower Seed Oil is high in linoleic acid, the fatty acid dry and blemish-prone skin is often short of. It is a light, non-fragrant emollient and one of the better tolerated plant oils.
- Daucus Carota Sativa (carrot) Root Extract plant extract
- Carrot Root Extract carries carotenoids, which give it a strong orange colour. It is used as an antioxidant extract and can tint a formula.
- Daucus Carota Sativa (carrot) Seed Oil emollient
- Carrot seed oil, pressed from the seed rather than the root. It is used as a conditioning oil and carries its own earthy scent.
- Beta-Carotene antioxidant
- Beta-Carotene is an orange plant pigment and a vitamin A precursor. It is used as an antioxidant and it tints a formula, which is often why it is there.
- Tocopherol antioxidant
- Tocopherol is vitamin E. It is an oil-soluble antioxidant that protects the oils in a formula from going rancid and works on skin as an emollient, and it is regularly paired with vitamin C because each keeps the other going for longer.
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary) Leaf Oil fragrance component
- Rosemary Leaf Oil is an essential oil carrying camphor and cineole. It scents a formula and is a stronger aromatic than most.
- Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer thickener
- This is a carbomer relative with fatty side chains, so it thickens and stabilises an emulsion at the same time. It gives a light gel-cream body rather than a heavy one.
- Tromethamine pH adjuster
- Tromethamine neutralises acidic thickeners such as carbomer so they gel, and holds a formula near skin-friendly pH. It is used at a fraction of a percent.
- Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate is a mild sugar-derived emulsifier that holds oil into water and thickens slightly.
- Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate thickener
- Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate is a polymer thickener that gels instantly and gives a light, silky body.
- Sodium Gluconate chelator
- The sodium salt of gluconic acid, used to tie up trace metals so a formula stays stable. It is one of the gentler chelators.
- Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate is a mild sugar-derived emulsifier and solubiliser used where a formula must stay clear.
- Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract ferment
- This is soybean fermented by lactobacillus. The fermentation breaks soy proteins into smaller pieces, which is what makes the extract easier for a formula to carry.
- Saccharomyces/Potato Extract Ferment Filtrate ferment
- Potato extract fermented with yeast and strained. It supplies sugars and amino acids and is used as a conditioning ferment.
- Saccharomyces/Barley Seed Ferment Filtrate ferment
- Barley fermented with brewing yeast and strained clear. Fermentation breaks the grain starch and protein into sugars, peptides and B vitamins that hold water.
- Adenosine active
- Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated.
- Sodium Polyacrylate thickener
- Sodium Polyacrylate is a polymer that absorbs many times its weight in water. It thickens a formula and holds water in a gel against the skin.
- Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer film former
- This is a polymer that forms a moisture-holding film on the surface, usually supplied with glycerin and propylene glycol as a hydrating complex.
