How it works

Salicylic Acid is named on the ingredient panel on this foaming cleanser. Salicylic Acid is a BHA, and the only common exfoliant that is oil soluble, so it can work inside a pore rather than only on the surface. It loosens the dead cells that block pores and is used for the look of congested, oily skin. On this panel it sits alongside Myristic Acid and Lauric Acid. Myristic Acid is a saturated fatty acid used to thicken and, with a base added, to build the foam in a soap-style cleanser.

Key benefits

  • Salicylic Acid named on this product's own ingredient panel
  • Myristic Acid on the same panel, the formula's fatty acid
  • Lauric Acid on the same panel, the formula's fatty acid
  • 150 ml to a unit
  • Korean-market formula, with its Korean barcode and batch code intact on the box

Key actives

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic Acid is a BHA, and the only common exfoliant that is oil soluble, so it can work inside a pore rather than only on the surface. It loosens the dead cells that block pores and is used for the look of congested, oily skin.

Myristic Acid

Myristic Acid is a saturated fatty acid used to thicken and, with a base added, to build the foam in a soap-style cleanser.

Lauric Acid

Lauric Acid is the coconut fatty acid that gives soap-style cleansers their dense foam. It is not well suited to blemish-prone skin at high levels.

How to use

  1. Use morning and night as the cleansing step, following an oil or balm cleanser at night rather than using it alone to remove makeup. Work a coin-sized amount into a lather on damp skin for about 30 seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Worth knowing

  • Very dry or sensitized skin may find a foaming cleanser too drying for twice-daily use and can scale back to once a day.
  • Introduce any new product gradually rather than adding several new steps to a routine at once, so any reaction is easy to trace back to the right cause.

  • BHAs like salicylic acid get really deep into the pores, whereas the water-soluble ones don't go as deep.
