Zea Mays (corn) Starch absorbent

Corn Starch absorbs oil and moisture and gives a soft, matte finish. It also thickens a formula.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate surfactant

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a coconut-derived surfactant that gives a dense, creamy foam while staying mild. It is the usual choice in syndet cleansing bars.

Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate surfactant

Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is an amino-acid-derived cleansing surfactant. It lifts oil and makeup at a pH close to skin's own, which is why it replaced sulfates in gentle cleansers.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder absorbent

Green tea leaf ground to a powder. In a formula it is a mild physical grain and an absorbent, and it tints the product green.

Sodium Palmitate surfactant

The soap of palmitic acid, and one half of most traditional cleansing bases. It gives a dense creamy foam and sits at a high pH.

Diglycerin humectant

Diglycerin is two glycerin units joined together. It holds water like glycerin but feels less tacky, so it is used where a formula needs hydration without drag.

Maltodextrin film former

Maltodextrin is a starch-derived sugar chain used to carry powdered extracts and to form a light film. It also gives a soft, smoothing feel.

Allantoin active

Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin.

Papain exfoliant

Papain is a protein-cutting enzyme from papaya. Enzyme exfoliants act on protein rather than on the bonds an acid targets, and they need water to work, which is why they suit powder washes.

Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil emollient

Moringa Seed Oil is high in oleic acid and behenic acid and very stable. It is a conditioning emollient with a light, non-sticky finish.

Water (aqua) solvent

Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.

Glycerin humectant
