A department store house, and a sun care shelf that is the real reason to be here
HERA is Amorepacific's luxury colour and base house, the brand behind the Black Cushion and the Sensual lip range, and it is sold in Korea from a counter rather than a drugstore aisle. Most of what it makes is makeup, which is worth knowing before you arrive expecting a skincare ladder.
The part that travels badly and is stocked here in full is the UV Protector range: a dozen finishes of one idea, from a 10g balm stick to 70ml bottles for outdoor days, plus tone-up versions in Lavender and Peach. Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and peptides lead its actives on the skincare side, and the Hydro Reflecting toner, fluid and cream are the hydrating line behind the makeup.
Is this a makeup brand or a skincare brand?
Mostly makeup, and shopping it that way will serve you better. The cushions, glosses and primers are the range's centre and are chosen by shade and finish. On the skincare side the Hydro Reflecting line is the hydrating set and the UV Protector shelf is the deepest single category we carry from any department store brand, which is the genuinely hard thing to buy outside Korea. Read the Homme line as its own small range rather than a men's afterthought.
Why is a counter brand like this hard to buy in the US at all?
Because a luxury Korean house sells through counters, and a counter does not export. The shade codes, the refill formats and the seasonal finishes are built for a Korean sales floor with a person standing at it, and almost none of that reaches a US listing. What you get here is the domestic unit, shade code and all, with the Korean barcode on the box; what you do not get is somebody matching you at the counter, so read the shade notes before ordering.
