How it works
The capsule format keeps the visible beads separate in the bottle until you press them out onto the skin. It goes on slightly thicker than a plain fluid and settles to a smooth, taut feeling finish. That is the difference from a cream, which is built mostly to hold what is already there rather than to concentrate one job into a thin layer. Its place is after the toner and before the moisturizer, on skin that is still slightly damp. What is this product, and who is it for?
It is a firming capsule serum in a 30ml bottle, made for mature skin that wants a firmer looking finish from its serum step. A moisturizer cannot do the same thing here, because it is spread thicker and does more general work. You can judge it on how quickly it settles and how the face looks once the cream is on over it.
Where in my routine does this go?
After the watery step and before the moisturizer. The order that works is thinnest to thickest, so cleanser, then toner, then this, then cream, then sunscreen in the morning. Apply it while the face is still slightly damp. If you use more than one serum, put the thinnest one on first and give each a moment to settle.
How much should I use?
Three or four drops, or a dab about the size of a small pea, is enough for a whole face. Press it in rather than rubbing, working from the centre outward. Twice a day is normal, morning and night. Using more per application will not do more; it will mostly sit on the surface and transfer onto your collar.
Can I layer this with my other serums?
Yes, as long as you go thinnest to thickest and give each layer a few seconds. Put the most watery product on first, then this, then anything richer. Two serums doing the same job is redundant rather than harmful. If a layer feels wet, wait rather than piling the next one on top of it.

- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Niacinamide active
- Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Dimethicone silicone
- Dimethicone is the most used cosmetic silicone. It forms a breathable film that smooths the surface, slows water leaving skin, and gives the slip that makes a primer or cream feel silky. It is inert and does not penetrate.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Hydrogenated Polydecene emollient
- Hydrogenated Polydecene is a synthetic hydrocarbon emollient used in place of mineral oil. It is stable, has no scent, and gives a cushioned slip without oxidising.
- Stearic Acid fatty acid
- Stearic Acid is a saturated fatty acid from plant fats, and one of the three lipid classes skin's own barrier is built from. In a formula it thickens, stabilises the emulsion and can be turned into a soap-style cleanser by adding a base.
- Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA barrier lipid
- A synthetic ceramide analogue, built to the same shape as a natural ceramide from palmitic acid. It is used as one of the lipids in a barrier style formula.
- Mannitol humectant
- Mannitol is a sugar alcohol used as a humectant and antioxidant. It hydrates and helps stabilise the rest of the formula against oxidation.
- Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer silicone
- This is a silicone elastomer, a soft springy gel. It fills the look of fine texture and gives the velvety, blurred finish of a primer.
- Polymethyl Methacrylate absorbent
- Polymethyl Methacrylate is an acrylic polymer used as fine spheres. They give a smooth, powdery slip and blur the look of surface texture.

- Cholesterol is the third of the three lipids the outer layer of skin is built from, with ceramides and fatty acids. Formulas that carry all three are following the ratio skin itself holds.
- Dextrin thickener

- Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract plant extract
