How it works

The PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Capsule Mist is a 100ml mist, used at any point in the day, over bare skin or over makeup. The active it is built around is Sodium DNA, named twelfth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Allantoin, Adenosine and Dipeptide-15, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Sodium DNA stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the mist format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the mist Anua sells in Korea, Sodium DNA and all.

Key benefits

  • Sodium DNA, the active this mist is built around
  • Allantoin and Adenosine on the same list, actives
  • Dipeptide-15 and Copper Tripeptide-1 on the same list, peptides
  • Streptococcus Thermophilus Ferment and Aureobasidium Pullulans Ferment further down the same list
  • Tocopherol and Beta-Carotene further down the same list
  • Sodium DNA named twelfth on the manufacturer list printed on this page

Key actives

Sodium DNAactive

Sodium DNA is the salt of DNA, in Korean skincare almost always salmon derived, and it is the ingredient behind the PDRN category. It is used as a humectant and for the look of tired skin; the fragments themselves are what the name PDRN refers to. The name on the box points at it, and it is named twelfth on this mist's own ingredient list.

Allantoinactive

Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin. The panel names it seventeenth on this mist's list, beside Sodium DNA.

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. It is named twenty-third on this mist's list, alongside Sodium DNA.

Dipeptide-15peptide

A two-amino-acid peptide used as a conditioning peptide, generally declared alongside several others rather than alone. It is named eighteenth on this mist's list, alongside Sodium DNA.

Copper Tripeptide-1peptide

Copper Tripeptide-1 is three amino acids bound to a copper ion, and the classic firming peptide in cosmetic chemistry. It is blue in solution, which is often why a serum carrying it is tinted, and it is used for the look of firmness and fine lines. The panel names it sixty-eighth on this mist's list, beside Sodium DNA.

How to use

  1. Hold the bottle roughly a hand span away and spray two or three times across the face.
  2. Press the droplets in with flat palms so the water has somewhere to go before it evaporates.
  3. Use it over an existing moisturiser or makeup during the day, since a layer already there is what holds the water.
  4. Do not spray it onto bare skin and walk away, because water left to dry can leave skin feeling tighter than before.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this mist on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Sodium DNA on the list.
  • Introduce this mist on its own for the first week, so anything your skin does is traceable to the Sodium DNA rather than to three changes at once.
