How it works
It is a light fluid that spreads from a few drops and sinks in on damp skin. Because it brings water rather than oil, it needs a moisturizer over it to stay put. A moisturizer cannot do the same thing here, because it is spread thicker and does more general work. It belongs in the middle of a routine, once the water step is on and before anything occlusive. You can judge it on how quickly it settles and how the face looks once the cream is on over it.

How to use
- Use it twice a day after the watery step, on a clean face and before any cream.
- Warm a small amount between the fingertips first, then press it over the cheeks, forehead and chin.
- Give it thirty seconds to settle before the next layer goes on, which is what keeps anything from balling up.
- Avoid applying it to skin that is completely dry after a long gap, since a thin layer spreads much further on damp skin.

Do I use this before or after moisturizer?
Before the moisturizer, always. How often should I apply it?
Twice a day is the usual rhythm, morning and evening, with a small amount each time. Start with a pea-sized dab and only add more if it does not cover. If your skin is new to a concentrated step, every other evening for the first week is a gentler way in than twice a day from the start.
Will it pill under sunscreen or makeup?
Pilling is almost always a timing problem rather than a formula one. Apply a thin layer, wait until the surface is no longer tacky, then put sunscreen or a base on top. Using too much is the other common cause, so start with a small amount. Pressing rather than rubbing the next layer on also helps it sit flat.
