How to use
- Use the Mung Bean Pore Clay Pack after cleansing.
- Apply a thick layer to a dry face, avoiding eye and mouth areas. Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes, then gently massage with wet hands, focusing on the T-zone, before rinsing thoroughly with lukewarm water. Use 1 to 2 times per week.
- Rinse with lukewarm water at the time the pack gives, then go straight into a hydrating layer and your moisturizer the same evening.
- Once or twice a week. Do not leave it on longer than the pack says in the hope of more effect; a mask past its time works against the surface it is on.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for beplain Mung Bean Pore Clay Pack 200ml. Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Does this product contain essential oils?
Yes. The ingredient list for beplain Mung Bean Pore Clay Pack 200ml includes Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil and Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil. Aromatic plant oils are listed under their botanical name rather than as fragrance, so they are named separately from any fragrance or parfum entry.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
No. None of the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually appear on the ingredient list for beplain Mung Bean Pore Clay Pack 200ml. They are the components most often reported as contact allergens, which is why that rule names them one by one.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for beplain Mung Bean Pore Clay Pack 200ml names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Vigna Radiata Seed Extract (11%) plant extract
- Mung bean seed extract, the nokdu of Korean cleansing powders. It carries starches, proteins and saponins and is used as a conditioning, mildly cleansing extract.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Kaolin absorbent
- Kaolin is white clay, the mildest of the cosmetic clays. It absorbs oil and lifts loose debris from the surface without stripping, which is why it is the clay used on drier skin.
- Bentonite absorbent
- Bentonite is a volcanic clay that swells in water. It absorbs oil, thickens a mask, and holds pigments and powders evenly suspended.
- Diglycerin humectant
- Diglycerin is two glycerin units joined together. It holds water like glycerin but feels less tacky, so it is used where a formula needs hydration without drag.
- Zea Mays (Corn) Starch absorbent
- Corn Starch absorbs oil and moisture and gives a soft, matte finish. It also thickens a formula.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Glyceryl Glucoside humectant
- Glyceryl Glucoside is glycerin bound to glucose, from the resurrection plant. It is a humectant that holds water in the outer layer of skin.
- Betaine humectant
- Betaine is a sugar-beet-derived humectant that cells use to hold water. In a formula it hydrates and takes the edge off cleansers and acids, which is why it often appears alongside them.
- Dipropylene Glycol humectant
- Dipropylene Glycol is a glycol used as a solvent and a light humectant. Its main job is keeping the rest of the formula dissolved and the texture fluid rather than adding hydration of its own.
29 more explained
- Calamine absorbent
- Calamine is a mineral blend of zinc oxide with a trace of iron oxide, which is where its pale pink colour comes from. In a formula it is an absorbent mineral powder.
- Potassium Cetyl Phosphate emulsifier
- Potassium Cetyl Phosphate is an emulsifier prized for keeping powdered ingredients evenly suspended, which is why tinted and mineral-powder textures use it.
- Xanthan Gum thickener
- Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide made by fermenting sugar. It thickens a watery formula into a gel and holds the whole thing in suspension so nothing separates. Too much of it and a serum turns stringy, which is why it appears in fractions of a percent.
- Hydroxyacetophenone preservative booster
- Hydroxyacetophenone is an antioxidant that also strengthens a preservative system, so a formula needs less traditional preservative. Korean formulas pair it with 1,2-hexanediol constantly.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Niacinamide active
- Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.
- Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil emollient
- Olive Fruit Oil is high in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is a rich emollient that suits dry skin and is heavy enough that blemish-prone skin often does not get on with it.
- Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer thickener
- This is a pre-neutralised polymer thickener that gels on contact with water and stabilises an emulsion without heat.
- Polyisobutene film former
- Polyisobutene is a synthetic polymer that forms a flexible, water-resistant film. It gives gloss and holds a formula in place, which is why it appears in lip products and long-wear textures.
- Glucose humectant
- Glucose is a simple sugar used as a humectant and as food for the ferment ingredients in the same formula. It hydrates mildly and adds a soft slip.
- Triethoxycaprylylsilane silicone
- Triethoxycaprylylsilane is a coating applied to mineral powders so they disperse evenly and resist water rather than clumping.
- Disodium EDTA chelator
- EDTA is a chelator: it locks up trace metal ions from water and packaging that would otherwise turn a formula cloudy, off-colour or rancid. It does nothing to skin and appears at a fraction of a percent.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Citric Acid pH adjuster
- Citric Acid is used in tiny amounts to bring a formula to the pH its actives need, not as an exfoliant at that level. It is an AHA, so at much higher concentrations it can also exfoliate.
- Allantoin active
- Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin.
- Sorbitan Oleate emulsifier
- Sorbitan Oleate is an emulsifier for water-in-oil formulas. It keeps a rich cream or a cleansing oil from separating.
- Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside surfactant
- Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is a sugar-derived cleansing surfactant. It foams modestly and is mild enough for low-pH cleansers built for reactive skin.
- Abies Sibirica Oil fragrance component
- Siberian fir needle oil. It carries bornyl acetate and pinenes, giving the sharp coniferous scent it is used for.
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil fragrance component
- Rosemary Leaf Oil is an essential oil carrying camphor and cineole. It scents a formula and is a stronger aromatic than most.
- Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil fragrance component
- Clary sage essential oil, a softer, sweeter scent than common sage. It is used to perfume a formula.
- Phaseolus Radiatus Sprout Extract (0.0005%) plant extract
- Mung bean sprout extract. Sprouting raises the free amino acid and vitamin content over the dry bean, and the extract is used as a conditioning botanical.
- Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil fragrance component
- Anthemis Nobilis is Roman chamomile. The flower oil is an essential oil, so it scents a formula as well as conditioning it, and essential oils are the class most likely to bother reactive skin.
- Hydrolyzed Extensin protein
- Extensin is a structural glycoprotein from plant cell walls. Hydrolysed, it is cut into fragments small enough to dissolve, and it works as a water-holding film on the surface.
- Juniperus Mexicana Oil fragrance
- Texas cedarwood oil, used for a dry woody note. It is an aromatic ingredient rather than a functional one.
- Canadian Colloidal Clay absorbent
- A fine mineral clay sold by its place of origin rather than its mineral name. Like the other cosmetic clays it absorbs oil and thickens a mask.
- Illite absorbent
- Illite is a clay, often sold as French green clay. It takes up oil and water, which is why it appears in wash-off masks and powder cleansers.
- Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil fragrance component
- German chamomile essential oil, deep blue from its azulene content. It scents a formula as well as conditioning it.
- Montmorillonite absorbent
- A swelling clay that takes up many times its own weight in water. It absorbs oil in a mask and thickens an oil phase in a stick.
- Protease active
- Protease is an enzyme that breaks down protein. In a cleanser or peel it loosens the protein bonds holding dead surface cells together, which is a gentler route to smoothness than an acid or a scrub.
