How to use
- Use the Advanced Cica Hydro Cream as the last skincare step, morning and evening, over serum.
- Apply an appropriate amount to clean skin as the final step in your skincare routine. Gently pat until absorbed. Can be used morning and evening.
- It closes the routine at night, and in the morning it is the layer sunscreen goes over.
- Twice a day. Do not skip it on an oily day; without a sealing layer the water the steps beneath it brought in leaves again.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
No. Neither fragrance nor parfum appears on the ingredient list for Dr.Belmeur Advanced Cica Hydro Cream 100ml. Those are the two names a cosmetic label uses for an added scent blend, so a formula carrying one would name it. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Does this product contain essential oils?
Yes. The ingredient list for Dr.Belmeur Advanced Cica Hydro Cream 100ml includes Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil and Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Flower Oil. Aromatic plant oils are listed under their botanical name rather than as fragrance, so they are named separately from any fragrance or parfum entry.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
Yes. Citral, Limonene and Linalool appear on the ingredient list for Dr.Belmeur Advanced Cica Hydro Cream 100ml. These belong to the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually rather than folded into a fragrance entry.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for Dr.Belmeur Advanced Cica Hydro Cream 100ml names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, denatured or SD alcohol, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

27 of 32 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- Cyclohexasiloxane silicone
- Cyclohexasiloxane is a volatile silicone used for a light, fast-spreading feel that leaves nothing behind.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate emulsifier
- Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate is a mild sugar-derived solubiliser used to dissolve fragrance and oil into watery formulas.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Hydrogenated Polydecene emollient
- Hydrogenated Polydecene is a synthetic hydrocarbon emollient used in place of mineral oil. It is stable, has no scent, and gives a cushioned slip without oxidising.
- Cetyl Palmitate emollient
- Cetyl Palmitate is a wax ester, the same kind of molecule that makes up much of spermaceti and jojoba. It thickens the oil phase and leaves a smooth, non-greasy film.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride emollient
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.
- Sorbitan Stearate emulsifier
- Sorbitan Stearate is a mild emulsifier and thickener used to hold oil and water together in creams.
- Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer thickener
- This is a carbomer relative with fatty side chains, so it thickens and stabilises an emulsion at the same time. It gives a light gel-cream body rather than a heavy one.
- Isohexadecane emollient
- Isohexadecane is a branched hydrocarbon emollient that spreads easily and leaves a dry finish. It is often paired with a thickener to build a gel-cream.
15 more explained
- Squalane emollient
- Squalane is the stable, saturated version of squalene, a lipid human skin already makes. It is a light emollient that absorbs quickly, does not oxidise, and is one of the few oils widely considered safe for blemish-prone skin. Most cosmetic squalane is now from sugarcane or olive rather than shark.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil occlusive
- Plant oil hardened by hydrogenation. It behaves as a soft solid, so it gives balms and sticks their body and slows water loss from the surface.
- Panthenol humectant
- Panthenol is pro-vitamin B5: skin converts it to pantothenic acid. It is a humectant that holds water and leaves skin feeling soft and less tight, and it is one of the ingredients formulators reach for when a formula also contains something harsh.
- Madecassoside active
- Madecassoside is the centella triterpene most associated with the look of redness, and the one brands lead with in cica products. It is water soluble and stable, so it appears in essences as readily as in creams.
- Sodium Hyaluronate humectant
- Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt of hyaluronic acid, and it is what most products labelled hyaluronic actually contain. The salt dissolves more readily and the molecule is smaller, so it sits in the outer layer of skin rather than only on top of it.
- Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid humectant
- Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid is hyaluronic acid cut into much shorter fragments. The smaller the fragment, the further into the outer layer it can settle, which is why serums stack several sizes together instead of using one.
- Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract plant extract
- Centella Asiatica is the plant behind the whole cica category, sold as gotu kola or Madagascar centella. Its extract is the anchor of Korean formulas built for easily reddened skin, and its work is done by four triterpenes: asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid.
- Beta-Glucan polysaccharide
- Beta-Glucan is a polysaccharide from oats or yeast. It holds a large amount of water, forms a soothing film, and is one of the ingredients formulators reach for in products aimed at reactive skin.
- Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil fragrance
- May chang oil, a bright lemon-scented essential oil pressed from a small Asian tree. Its scent comes mostly from citral, the same aromatic that gives lemongrass its character.
- Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil fragrance component
- Bergamot Fruit Oil is a citrus essential oil and the top note of eau de cologne. It scents a formula; citrus oils are the aromatic class most likely to bother reactive skin.
- Cymbopogon Martini Oil fragrance component
- Palmarosa oil, distilled from a grass related to lemongrass. It is high in geraniol and carries a rose like scent, so it is used as an aromatic oil.
- Citral fragrance component
- Citral is a sharp lemon aromatic found in lemongrass and citrus oils. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named.
- Limonene fragrance component
- Limonene is the citrus-peel aromatic. It appears here because EU labelling requires 26 fragrance components to be named individually rather than hidden inside "fragrance", and it is one of them.
- Linalool fragrance component
- Linalool is a floral aromatic found in lavender, bergamot and coriander. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be declared by name.
