How it works

The Cemenrete Picotonic Shot Pigmentation Cream is a 25g cream, used as the last skincare step, morning and evening, over serum. The active it is built around is Bisabolol, named fifteenth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Nicotinoyl Dipeptide-23, Tocopherol and Collagen Extract, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Bisabolol stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the cream format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the cream Dr. Melaxin sells in Korea, Bisabolol and all.

Key benefits

  • Bisabolol, the active this cream is built around
  • Nicotinoyl Dipeptide-23 on the same list, a peptide
  • Tocopherol on the same list, an antioxidant
  • Collagen Extract and Hydrolyzed Elastin on the same list, proteins
  • Eriobotrya Japonica Leaf Extract and Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Extract further down the same list
  • Tremella Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract and Paraffin further down the same list

Key actives

Bisabololactive

Bisabolol is the main active fraction of chamomile oil, usually supplied from candeia wood. It is used for the look of redness in formulas for reactive skin, and it helps other ingredients absorb. On this cream's own ingredient list it is named fifteenth.

Nicotinoyl Dipeptide-23peptide

A two-amino-acid peptide carrying a vitamin B3 group. It is used as a conditioning peptide, usually beside niacinamide itself. It is named thirty-third on this cream's list, alongside Bisabolol.

Tocopherolantioxidant

Tocopherol is vitamin E. It is an oil-soluble antioxidant that protects the oils in a formula from going rancid and works on skin as an emollient, and it is regularly paired with vitamin C because each keeps the other going for longer. The panel names it twenty-fifth on this cream's list, beside Bisabolol.

Collagen Extractprotein

Collagen Extract is a collagen-bearing extract, usually from fish skin or scales. In a formula it works as a humectant and a smoothing film rather than as a source of new collagen. It is named twenty-seventh on this cream's list, alongside Bisabolol.

Hydrolyzed Elastinprotein

Hydrolyzed Elastin is fragments of elastin, the protein that gives skin its snap back. Like collagen it cannot rebuild the real thing from the outside; it holds water and leaves a smooth film. It is named twenty-eighth on this cream's list, alongside Bisabolol.

How to use

  1. Use the Cemenrete Picotonic Shot Pigmentation Cream as the last skincare step, morning and evening, over serum.
  2. At the last step of skincare take an adequate amount and apply onto the skin, and gently press and massage for absorption.
  3. It closes the routine at night, and in the morning it is the layer sunscreen goes over.
  4. Twice a day. Do not skip it on an oily day; without a sealing layer the water the steps beneath it brought in leaves again.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this cream on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Bisabolol on the list.
  • Introduce this cream on its own for the first week, so anything your skin does is traceable to the Bisabolol rather than to three changes at once.
