How it works

The TX Ampoule R is a 30ml ampoule, used after toner and before moisturizer, morning and evening. The active it is built around is Tranexamic Acid, named fourth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Niacinamide, Adenosine and Allantoin, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Tranexamic Acid stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the ampoule format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the ampoule Dr. Melaxin sells in Korea, Tranexamic Acid and all.

Key benefits

  • Tranexamic Acid, the active this ampoule is built around
  • Niacinamide, Adenosine, Allantoin and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate on the same list, actives
  • Acetyl Glucosamine and Tranexamoyl Dipeptide-23 further down the same list
  • Decapeptide-40 and Glutathione further down the same list
  • Tranexamic Acid named fourth on the manufacturer list printed on this page
  • The Korean-market release of this ampoule, confirmed against its Korean barcode

Key actives

Tranexamic Acidactive

Tranexamic Acid is a synthetic amino acid derivative used for the look of stubborn discolouration and post-blemish marks. It is water soluble, stable and comfortable next to niacinamide, which is how it is usually paired. On this ampoule's own ingredient list it is named fourth.

Niacinamideactive

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is named fifth on this ampoule's list, alongside Tranexamic Acid.

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. The panel names it twelfth on this ampoule's list, beside Tranexamic Acid.

Allantoinactive

Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin. It is named fourteenth on this ampoule's list, alongside Tranexamic Acid.

Dipotassium Glycyrrhizateactive

Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate is a water-soluble salt derived from licorice root. The panel names it seventeenth on this ampoule's list, beside Tranexamic Acid.

How to use

  1. Use the TX Ampoule Rx after toner and before moisturizer, morning and evening.
  2. Apply a small amount of ampoule thinly to the desired area. Gently pat over the face until the ampoule is fully absorbed.
  3. It sits between the toner and the moisturizer, and it is the layer most worth leaving alone for a minute before anything covers it.
  4. Twice a day, every day. Do not use it as a spot application on one area; an ampoule is a routine step, not a targeted dose.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this ampoule on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Tranexamic Acid on the list.
  • Introduce this ampoule on its own for the first week, so anything your skin does is traceable to the Tranexamic Acid rather than to three changes at once.
