How it works

The TX Peeling Toner is a 150ml exfoliating toner, used in the evening, after cleansing, on dry skin rather than damp. The active it is built around is Niacinamide, named seventh on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Tranexamic Acid, Adenosine and Allantoin, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Niacinamide stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the exfoliating toner format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the exfoliating toner Dr. Melaxin sells in Korea, Niacinamide and all.

Key benefits

  • Niacinamide, the active this exfoliating toner is built around
  • Tranexamic Acid, Adenosine and Allantoin on the same list, actives
  • Glycolic Acid on the same list, an exfoliant
  • Capryloyl Salicylic Acid and Gluconolactone further down the same list
  • Salicylic Acid and Bacillus Ferment further down the same list
  • Niacinamide named seventh on the manufacturer list printed on this page

Key actives

Niacinamideactive

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. On this exfoliating toner's own ingredient list it is named seventh.

Tranexamic Acidactive

Tranexamic Acid is a synthetic amino acid derivative used for the look of stubborn discolouration and post-blemish marks. It is water soluble, stable and comfortable next to niacinamide, which is how it is usually paired. It is named tenth on this exfoliating toner's list, alongside Niacinamide.

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. The panel names it fourteenth on this exfoliating toner's list, beside Niacinamide.

Allantoinactive

Allantoin is a comfrey-derived compound used to condition skin and soften the outer layer so it feels smoother. It is one of the standard additions to a formula built for easily irritated skin. It is named twenty-first on this exfoliating toner's list, alongside Niacinamide.

Glycolic Acidexfoliant

It loosens the bonds between dead surface cells and is used for the look of dullness and rough texture. The panel names it sixteenth on this exfoliating toner's list, beside Niacinamide.

How to use

  1. Use the TX Peeling Toner in the evening, after cleansing, on dry skin rather than damp.
  2. Shake gently to mix the contents, apply an appropriate amount to the skin, and let it absorb.
  3. Wait a minute, then carry on with a hydrating layer and your moisturizer the same evening.
  4. Start at two or three evenings a week and build from there. Do not use it in the same routine as another exfoliating acid or a retinoid.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this exfoliating toner on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Niacinamide on the list.
  • Gluconolactone and Glycolic Acid on this list makes this exfoliating toner an exfoliating step, so do not stack it with another one on the same night.

  • Niacinamide helps reduce the appearance of pores in a few ways. By strengthening the skin barrier and improving elasticity, pores appear less noticeable and more even.
