Cetyl Ethylhexanoate emollient

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate is a synthetic ester used as a dry-feeling emollient. It spreads easily, leaves a silky rather than oily finish, and helps disperse pigments and UV filters evenly.

Isopropyl Palmitate emollient

One of the oldest cosmetic emollient esters. It softens skin and thins a formula, and it is more occlusive than the very light modern esters.

Triethylhexanoin emollient

Triethylhexanoin is a light ester emollient that softens skin and disperses pigment. It absorbs cleanly and is often used to thin a heavy oil phase.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride emollient

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.

Polyglyceryl-6 Dicaprate emulsifier

A plant-derived emulsifier and mild cleanser. It is common in cleansing oils that rinse without leaving a film.

Cocos Nucifera (coconut) Oil emollient

Coconut Oil is high in lauric acid, which makes it a rich emollient and partial occlusive. It is well known to be poorly suited to blemish-prone skin.

Polyglyceryl-10 Diisostearate emulsifier

A polyglycerin ester carrying two fatty chains, which makes it more oil-loving than the single-chain version. It suits cleansing oils and rich creams.

Diisostearyl Malate emollient

Diisostearyl Malate is a thick, glossy ester used to hold pigment in suspension and give a cushioned shine. It is the standard emollient in lip products.

Polyglyceryl-6 Caprylate emulsifier

A polyglycerin emulsifier with a short fatty chain, which makes it more water-loving than its longer-chain relatives. It suits cleansing waters and micellar formulas.
