How to use
- Use the Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream as the last skincare step, morning and evening, over serum.
- At the last stage of your skincare routine, apply an appropriate amount to the face and neck using the included spatula, then gently massage or pat until absorbed. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if irritation or rash occurs. Keep out of reach of children and replace the cap after use.
- It closes the routine at night, and in the morning it is the layer sunscreen goes over.
- Twice a day. Do not skip it on an oily day; without a sealing layer the water the steps beneath it brought in leaves again.
Does this product contain added fragrance?
Yes. The ingredient list for Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream 60g includes FRAGRANCE (PARFUM). That is the label name for an added scent blend, whose individual components are not itemised beyond any allergens the label declares separately. The full list is printed in the Ingredients section of this page.
Are any declarable fragrance allergens listed?
Yes. HEXYL CINNAMAL, LINALOOL, BENZYL BENZOATE, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE and LIMONENE appear on the ingredient list for Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream 60g. These belong to the 26 fragrance components that EU cosmetic labelling requires to be named individually rather than folded into a fragrance entry.
Does this product contain denatured or SD alcohol?
No. The ingredient list for Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream 60g names no denatured alcohol, SD alcohol or ethanol. Fatty alcohols such as cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are a different class of ingredient, used as emollients and thickeners, and are not counted here.
Not on the ingredient list below: denatured or SD alcohol, essential oils, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

34 of 37 explained
- WATER solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- GLYCERIN humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- CYCLOPENTASILOXANE silicone
- Cyclopentasiloxane is a volatile silicone: it spreads a formula thin and smooth then evaporates, leaving no residue. It is the silicone behind a dry, powdery primer finish.
- CYCLOHEXASILOXANE silicone
- Cyclohexasiloxane is a volatile silicone used for a light, fast-spreading feel that leaves nothing behind.
- DIMETHICONE silicone
- Dimethicone is the most used cosmetic silicone. It forms a breathable film that smooths the surface, slows water leaving skin, and gives the slip that makes a primer or cream feel silky. It is inert and does not penetrate.
- NIACINAMIDE active
- Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.
- PENTYLENE GLYCOL humectant
- Pentylene Glycol hydrates and, like the other longer-chain glycols, makes a formula less hospitable to microbes so the preservative system can be lighter. It also improves how evenly a product spreads.
- PEG-10 DIMETHICONE silicone
- PEG-10 Dimethicone is a silicone with a water-loving chain attached, so it bridges the silicone and water phases. It is used as an emulsifier and to give a light, silky feel.
- PANAX GINSENG ROOT EXTRACT plant extract
- Ginseng Root Extract is the signature ingredient of Korean traditional skincare, carrying ginsenosides. It is used for the look of tired, dull skin, and brands often ferment it to break the ginsenosides into smaller forms.
- ZIZIPHUS JUJUBA FRUIT EXTRACT plant extract
- Jujube fruit extract, the daechu of Korean tea and cooking. It carries sugars, fruit acids and polysaccharides and is used as a hydrating extract.
- CHRYSANTHELLUM INDICUM EXTRACT plant extract
- Golden chamomile extract, carrying flavonoids and saponins. It is used for the look of reddened skin and visible surface vessels.
- ROYAL JELLY EXTRACT plant extract
- Royal Jelly is the secretion worker bees feed to a queen. It carries proteins, sugars, amino acids and B vitamins, and it is a bee product, so it is worth knowing about if you react to those.
22 more explained
- ACORUS CALAMUS ROOT EXTRACT plant extract
- Sweet flag root extract, an aromatic wetland rhizome long used in Korean herbal practice. It is a conditioning plant extract.
- SILK AMINO ACIDS amino acid
- Silk protein broken down to its amino acids, mostly glycine, alanine and serine. They hydrate and leave a smooth, soft finish.
- SODIUM CHLORIDE thickener
- Sodium Chloride is salt. In a cleanser it thickens the liquid; in a mask or essence it balances the mineral content of the water phase. It has no active role.
- TREHALOSE humectant
- Trehalose is a sugar that some desert plants use to survive drying out. In skincare it is a humectant that holds water in the outer layer and helps a formula feel comfortable rather than tight.
- DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER silicone
- This is a silicone elastomer, a soft springy gel. It fills the look of fine texture and gives the velvety, blurred finish of a primer.
- ADENOSINE active
- Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated.
- BUTYLENE GLYCOL humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- ARGININE amino acid
- Arginine is an amino acid that does two jobs here: it holds water in the outer layer of skin, and it neutralises acidic gelling agents, which is why it often stands in for a synthetic pH adjuster.
- DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE active
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate is a water-soluble salt derived from licorice root. It is the licorice fraction Korean formulas use for the look of redness, and it is far more stable in water than the whole extract.
- SODIUM CITRATE pH adjuster
- Sodium Citrate is the salt of citric acid, used as a buffer: it holds a formula at a steady pH rather than pushing it in one direction. It is also a mild chelator.
- 1,2-HEXANEDIOL humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- ETHYL HEXANEDIOL humectant
- Ethyl Hexanediol is a glycol that hydrates and makes a formula less hospitable to microbes, the same double role 1,2-hexanediol plays.
- ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- DISODIUM EDTA chelator
- EDTA is a chelator: it locks up trace metal ions from water and packaging that would otherwise turn a formula cloudy, off-colour or rancid. It does nothing to skin and appears at a fraction of a percent.
- PHENOXYETHANOL preservative
- Phenoxyethanol is the most widely used cosmetic preservative outside the paraben family. It keeps a water-containing formula from growing bacteria and mould, and is capped at one percent in most markets, so it always sits low on a list.
- FRAGRANCE (PARFUM) fragrance
- Fragrance, or Parfum, is a single declaration standing for a whole scent blend, which can be dozens of materials. Regulators allow it as a trade secret, so a list showing only this word does not say what the scent is made of. It is the most common trigger named by people with reactive skin.
- GOLD (CI 77480) colorant
- Gold in a formula is metallic gold beaten or milled into flakes so fine they stay suspended. It is inert, sits on the surface, and is there for the visible glint.
- HEXYL CINNAMAL fragrance component
- Hexyl Cinnamal is a jasmine-like aromatic. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named individually.
- LINALOOL fragrance component
- Linalool is a floral aromatic found in lavender, bergamot and coriander. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be declared by name.
- BENZYL BENZOATE fragrance component
- Benzyl Benzoate is a faintly balsamic aromatic that also acts as a fixative, holding a fragrance on skin longer. It is one of the 26 declarable fragrance components.
- ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE fragrance component
- A soft violet and woody aromatic. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named.
- LIMONENE fragrance component
- Limonene is the citrus-peel aromatic. It appears here because EU labelling requires 26 fragrance components to be named individually rather than hidden inside "fragrance", and it is one of them.
