How it works
A cleansing balm is the first step of a double cleanse, and its job is dissolving what water cannot: sunscreen, foundation, and the oil the day leaves behind. This one is a solid balm that melts on contact, built on sunflower seed oil, evening primrose oil, grape seed oil and meadowfoam seed oil rather than a mineral oil base. It carries a protease as well, which is why it feels like it keeps working while you massage rather than simply sitting there. It goes on a dry face with dry hands, and it turns milky when you add water so it rinses without a film. Follow it with a foaming or gel cleanser, because a balm is the first half of the step and not the whole of it.

- Balm to oil to milk: dissolves makeup and sunscreen, then rinses without an oily film
- Sunflower, evening primrose, grape seed and meadowfoam seed oils condition while they cleanse
- Ulleungdo sea water brings the Dokdo line's mineral base into the balm step
- Tocopherol rounds out the oil phase as an antioxidant
Key actives
Sea Water
the line's signature mineral ingredient
Tocopherol
vitamin E to keep the oil phase fresh
Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil
a light, fast-rinsing conditioning oil
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml
What does the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml actually do?
This is the balm format of Round Lab's 1025 Dokdo first cleanse, built on the same idea as the brand's cleansing oil: plant oils that melt into skin to lift off makeup and sunscreen, worked around the Dokdo deep-sea water the line takes its name from. As a balm rather than a pourable oil it holds solid in the jar and turns fluid as you massage it into dry skin, then rinses clean with water. Sea Water and Tocopherol are the actives carrying that job on the ingredient list, not a marketing name alone.
Can I use the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml every day, morning and night?
Start the PM routine with dry hands: scoop a small amount, massage over a dry face to dissolve makeup, add lukewarm water to emulsify, then rinse. The ingredient list carries no exfoliating or resurfacing active, which is why Round Lab built this as a twice-daily step rather than something to space out.
Does the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml strip off sunscreen and makeup, or do I need a separate remover?
That is the job this format is built for: it is meant to dissolve sunscreen and makeup on contact rather than needing a wipe first. Follow it with a water-based cleanser as the second step of a double cleanse for a full rinse rather than treating it as a one-step wash.
What does the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml feel and smell like on skin?
It applies as solid balm that melts to a silky oil on contact. Light bergamot and sage from the essential oils on the list. As with any new step, patch test on the inner arm first if your skin flares up easily, and give it a day before judging the result.
Is this the same formula sold in Korea, or a US version made for this market?
The unit that ships is built for the Korean market, the same release sold in Korea, and its Korean barcode and batch code are left intact on the packaging. We publish our sourcing for every product, and that record, checked against the box itself, is the proof rather than anything printed on the product page.

How to use
- Use the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm as the first of two evening cleanses, on dry skin, before any water reaches the face.
- One scoop with the spatula, warmed between fingertips until it turns to oil, then massaged over dry skin for a minute.
- Emulsify with a little water until it goes milky, rinse, then follow with a water-based cleanser and your toner.
- Once a day, in the evening. Do not skip the second cleanse after it; a balm that is only rinsed leaves a film the next layer has to sit on.
Worth knowing
- Patch test on the inner arm before first use on the face, especially if trying this brand or formula for the first time.
- Store away from direct sunlight and heat so the formula and any actives inside stay stable through its shelf life.
