How it works
A cleansing balm is the first step of a double cleanse, and its job is dissolving what water cannot: sunscreen, foundation, and the oil the day leaves behind. This one is a solid balm that melts on contact, built on sunflower seed oil, evening primrose oil, grape seed oil and meadowfoam seed oil rather than a mineral oil base. It carries a protease as well, which is why it feels like it keeps working while you massage rather than simply sitting there. It goes on a dry face with dry hands, and it turns milky when you add water so it rinses without a film. Follow it with a foaming or gel cleanser, because a balm is the first half of the step and not the whole of it.

How to use
- Use the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm as the first of two evening cleanses, on dry skin, before any water reaches the face.
- One scoop with the spatula, warmed between fingertips until it turns to oil, then massaged over dry skin for a minute.
- Emulsify with a little water until it goes milky, rinse, then follow with a water-based cleanser and your toner.
- Once a day, in the evening. Do not skip the second cleanse after it; a balm that is only rinsed leaves a film the next layer has to sit on.

What does the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml actually do?
This is the balm format of Round Lab's 1025 Dokdo first cleanse, built on the same idea as the brand's cleansing oil: plant oils that melt into skin to lift off makeup and sunscreen, worked around the Dokdo deep-sea water the line takes its name from. As a balm rather than a pourable oil it holds solid in the jar and turns fluid as you massage it into dry skin, then rinses clean with water. Can I use the 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm 50ml every day, morning and night?
Start the PM routine with dry hands: scoop a small amount, massage over a dry face to dissolve makeup, add lukewarm water to emulsify, then rinse. The ingredient list carries no exfoliating or resurfacing active, which is why Round Lab built this as a twice-daily step rather than something to space out.
