How it works

The PDRN Intensive Cream 1.5 Tube is a 75ml cream, used as the last skincare step, morning and evening, over serum. The active it is built around is Sodium DNA, named twelfth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Niacinamide, Adenosine and Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Sodium DNA stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the cream format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the cream Abib sells in Korea, Sodium DNA and all.

Key benefits

  • Sodium DNA, the active this cream is built around
  • Niacinamide and Adenosine on the same list, actives
  • Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Copper Tripeptide-1 on the same list, peptides
  • Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 further down the same list
  • Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 further down the same list
  • Sodium DNA named twelfth on the manufacturer list printed on this page

Key actives

Sodium DNAactive

Sodium DNA is the salt of DNA, in Korean skincare almost always salmon derived, and it is the ingredient behind the PDRN category. It is used as a humectant and for the look of tired skin; the fragments themselves are what the name PDRN refers to. It is the entry this cream is named after, and the list carries it.

Niacinamideactive

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. The panel names it eighth on this cream's list, beside Sodium DNA.

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. It is named twenty-ninth on this cream's list, alongside Sodium DNA.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8peptide

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is a six-amino-acid peptide used for the look of expression lines, particularly around the eyes. It is the peptide sold under the name Argireline and is water soluble and stable. The panel names it forty-first on this cream's list, beside Sodium DNA.

Copper Tripeptide-1peptide

Copper Tripeptide-1 is three amino acids bound to a copper ion, and the classic firming peptide in cosmetic chemistry. It is blue in solution, which is often why a serum carrying it is tinted, and it is used for the look of firmness and fine lines. It is named forty-second on this cream's list, alongside Sodium DNA.

How to use

  1. Apply it last, after toner and serum, while the layers underneath are still slightly damp.
  2. Warm a small amount between the fingertips so it spreads in one pass rather than dragging.
  3. Press it over the face and down the neck instead of rubbing in circles, which is what leaves a shine.
  4. Do not add more on a tight feeling day, since the fix is a wetter layer underneath rather than a thicker one on top.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test this cream on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Sodium DNA on the list.
  • Introduce this cream on its own for the first week, so anything your skin does is traceable to the Sodium DNA rather than to three changes at once.
