How it works
The Vitamin C+Niacin Tone Up Blemish Pad is a 185ml product. The antioxidant it is built around is Ascorbic Acid, named fifteenth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Niacinamide, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid and Gluconolactone, so the antioxidant is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Ascorbic Acid stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the product format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the product Anua sells in Korea, Ascorbic Acid and all.
Key benefits
- Ascorbic Acid, the antioxidant this product is built around
- Niacinamide on the same list, an active
- Capryloyl Salicylic Acid and Gluconolactone on the same list, exfoliants
- Pyridoxine on the same list, a vitamin
- Thiamine HCl and Biotin further down the same list
- Folic Acid and Niacin further down the same list
Key actives
Ascorbic Acidantioxidant
Ascorbic Acid is pure vitamin C, the most researched form and also the least stable: it needs a low pH and airtight packaging to stay active. It is an antioxidant used for the look of dullness and uneven tone. The name on the box points at it, and it is named fifteenth on this product's own ingredient list.
Niacinamideactive
Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. The panel names it fifth on this product's list, beside Ascorbic Acid.
Capryloyl Salicylic Acidexfoliant
Capryloyl Salicylic Acid is salicylic acid with a fatty tail, sometimes sold as LHA. It stays nearer the surface than salicylic acid and works at a higher pH, so it exfoliates more evenly and more gently. The panel names it sixteenth on this product's list, beside Ascorbic Acid.
Gluconolactoneexfoliant
Gluconolactone is a PHA, the gentlest exfoliant class. It is named twenty-fourth on this product's list, alongside Ascorbic Acid.
Pyridoxinevitamin
Pyridoxine is vitamin B6. In a formula it is a conditioning vitamin, most often in B-complex blends and scalp products. It is named twenty-sixth on this product's list, alongside Ascorbic Acid.
Is this the Korean-market product or a US version?
The Korean-market one, Ascorbic Acid and all. We match this product to its Korean barcode before it reaches the shelf, which is the check that tells you which market release you are holding.
What else is on the list besides Ascorbic Acid?
Niacinamide, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid and Gluconolactone. The order they are printed in on this product's panel is the order on the box, so you can see where Ascorbic Acid sits relative to them. Further down the same panel: Pyridoxine, Thiamine HCl and Biotin.

How to use
- Sweep one pad after cleansing, working outward from the centre of the face with the textured side down.
- Turn it over and press the smooth side across the cheeks so the rest of the liquid is used.
- Wear a sunscreen every morning while you are working on tone, and follow the pad with your usual serum.
- Do not use a pad on the same evening as a strong exfoliating acid, since two sweep steps in one night is too many.
Worth knowing
- Patch test this product on a small area and wait a day before using it more widely, especially with Ascorbic Acid on the list.
- Gluconolactone and Salicylic Acid on this list makes this product an exfoliating step, so do not stack it with another one on the same night.
