The back half of this ingredient list is a block of hyaluronic acid in different forms: Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Hyaluronate, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, plain Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer and Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate. They differ in molecular size and charge, so they hold water at different levels of the surface and let go of it at different rates. Ahead of them sit Safflower Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and a Cetearyl Olivate with Sorbitan Olivate emulsifier pair, and that is the part that decides the result: the water those hyaluronic forms bind is held under a lipid layer instead of evaporating off the top.
