How it works

The panel on this cream names three forms of collagen rather than one: soluble collagen, hydrolyzed collagen, atelocollagen. Soluble Collagen is collagen kept in its intact triple-helix form and dissolved rather than cut up. It sits on the surface as a water-holding film. On this panel it sits alongside niacinamide, adenosine and melia azadirachta leaf extract. Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.

Key benefits

  • Three forms of collagen on one panel, not a single token inclusion
  • niacinamide on the same panel, the formula's active
  • adenosine on the same panel, the formula's active
  • 80 ml to a unit
  • Korean GS1 barcode matched against a Korea sourcing supplier's record for this item

Key actives

soluble collagen

Soluble Collagen is collagen kept in its intact triple-helix form and dissolved rather than cut up. It sits on the surface as a water-holding film.

hydrolyzed collagen

Hydrolyzed Collagen is collagen broken into fragments small enough to dissolve in water. It cannot become collagen in skin; what it does is hold water at the surface and leave a smooth, conditioned film.

atelocollagen

Atelocollagen is collagen with the ends of the molecule removed, the parts most likely to provoke a reaction. It is used as a conditioning, water-holding protein.

niacinamide

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. It is used at roughly 2 to 5 percent for the look of uneven tone and visible pores, and it is water soluble, stable and comfortable beside almost every other active, which is why it turns up in so many lists.

adenosine

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated.

melia azadirachta leaf extract

Melia Azadirachta is neem. Its leaf and flower extracts are long-standing Ayurvedic ingredients, and Korean formulas use them in products aimed at the look of congested, blemish-prone skin.

How to use

  1. Apply it as the final leave on step, after toner, essence and serum have all gone on.
  2. Warm a small amount between the fingertips and press it over the face and down the neck.
  3. Use a thinner layer in the morning under makeup and a fuller one at night when nothing goes on top.
  4. Do not put a serum on over the top, since nothing thinner will pass through a cream once it is down.

Worth knowing

  • Oily or acne-prone skin may prefer a thinner layer rather than the full amount, especially in warmer months.
  • Introduce any new product gradually rather than adding several new steps to a routine at once, so any reaction is easy to trace back to the right cause.

What professionals say

What professionals say

What skin-care professionals say about the key actives in this formula, quoted from the medical sources linked beside each.

  • Topical collagen is a very large molecule that's too big to absorb into the skin.

  • Niacinamide helps reduce the appearance of pores in a few ways. By strengthening the skin barrier and improving elasticity, pores appear less noticeable and more even.
