How it works

The Centella Cica Toner is a 150ml toner, used straight after cleansing, morning and evening, while the face is still damp. The active it is built around is Asiaticoside, named thirteenth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Niacinamide, Adenosine and Asiatic Acid, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Asiaticoside stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the toner format rather than by the list alone. BRTC sells this Asiaticoside toner in Korea, and this is that version.

Key benefits

  • Asiaticoside, the active this toner is built around
  • Niacinamide, Adenosine, Asiatic Acid and Madecassic Acid on the same list, actives
  • Alteromonas Ferment Extract and Centella Asiatica Extract further down the same list
  • Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract and Portulaca Oleracea Extract further down the same list
  • Asiaticoside named thirteenth on the manufacturer list printed on this page

Key actives

Asiaticosideactive

Asiaticoside is one of the four active triterpenes isolated from centella and the most studied of them. Korean formulas name it separately when they want to show which fraction of the plant they standardised. The name on the box points at it, and it is named thirteenth on this toner's own ingredient list.

Niacinamideactive

Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. The panel names it fifth on this toner's list, beside Asiaticoside.

Adenosineactive

Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. The panel names it ninth on this toner's list, beside Asiaticoside.

Asiatic Acidactive

Asiatic Acid is the third of centella's four triterpenes and the aglycone form, meaning it has no attached sugar. It is oil soluble, so it turns up in cica creams and balms more than in watery layers. It is named fourteenth on this toner's list, alongside Asiaticoside.

Madecassic Acidactive

Madecassic Acid is the fourth centella triterpene. A list that names all four is telling you the extract was standardised rather than simply pressed, which is the difference between a cica claim and a cica formula. It is named fifteenth on this toner's list, alongside Asiaticoside.
