How it works

The StretchFit Calming Pad is a 50sheets toner pad, used use one pad from it straight after cleansing, morning and evening. The active it is built around is Zinc PCA, named fourteenth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Asiaticoside, Madecassoside and Asiatic Acid, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Zinc PCA stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the toner pad format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the toner pad Dr.Althea sells in Korea, Zinc PCA and all.

Key benefits

  • Zinc PCA, the active this toner pad is built around
  • Asiaticoside, Madecassoside, Asiatic Acid and Madecassic Acid on the same list, actives
  • Centella Asiatica Extract and Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract further down the same list
  • Cladosiphon Okamuranus Extract and Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract further down the same list
  • Zinc PCA named fourteenth on the manufacturer list printed on this page
  • Original Korean Formula, the toner pad sold on Korean shelves

Key actives

Zinc PCAactive

Zinc PCA pairs zinc with the humectant PCA. It is used in oily and blemish-prone formulas for the look of shine and visible pores, and it hydrates at the same time. On this toner pad's own ingredient list it is named fourteenth.

Asiaticosideactive

Asiaticoside is one of the four active triterpenes isolated from centella and the most studied of them. Korean formulas name it separately when they want to show which fraction of the plant they standardised. It is named twenty-fourth on this toner pad's list, alongside Zinc PCA.

Madecassosideactive

Madecassoside is the centella triterpene most associated with the look of redness, and the one brands lead with in cica products. It is water soluble and stable, so it appears in essences as readily as in creams. It is named twenty-fifth on this toner pad's list, alongside Zinc PCA.

Asiatic Acidactive

Asiatic Acid is the third of centella's four triterpenes and the aglycone form, meaning it has no attached sugar. It is oil soluble, so it turns up in cica creams and balms more than in watery layers. The panel names it twenty-sixth on this toner pad's list, beside Zinc PCA.

Madecassic Acidactive

Madecassic Acid is the fourth centella triterpene. A list that names all four is telling you the extract was standardised rather than simply pressed, which is the difference between a cica claim and a cica formula. The panel names it twenty-seventh on this toner pad's list, beside Zinc PCA.

How to use

  1. Use a StretchFit Calming Pad after cleansing, morning and evening, in the prep slot your toner would take.
  2. One pad swept over the face and neck, or stretched and laid flat over a cheek, which is what the StretchFit name refers to.
  3. Leave a laid-on pad for about ten minutes, then press in what is left rather than rinsing, and go on to your serum.
  4. Once or twice a day. Do not store the tub in a hot bathroom or close it loosely, because the pads on top dry out first.

Worth knowing

  • Patch test on the inner arm first, as with any new step added to a routine.
  • Discontinue if irritation develops and check the ingredient list against any known sensitivity.
