How it works
The Rice Toner Pad is a 60ea toner pad, used use one pad from it straight after cleansing, morning and evening. The active it is built around is Niacinamide, named fifth on its own ingredient list. The same list carries Adenosine, Portulaca Oleracea Extract and Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, so the active is not the only thing on it worth naming. How much of the Niacinamide stays on the skin, and for how long, is decided by the toner pad format rather than by the list alone. This is the Original Korean Formula, the toner pad I'm From sells in Korea, Niacinamide and all.
Key benefits
- Niacinamide, the active this toner pad is built around
- Adenosine on the same list, an active
- Portulaca Oleracea Extract and Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract on the same list, plant extracts
- Triethylhexanoin on the same list, an emollient
- Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin) further down the same list
- Niacinamide named fifth on the manufacturer list printed on this page
Key actives
Niacinamideactive
Niacinamide is vitamin B3, and it is the most studied active in Korean formulation. On this toner pad's own ingredient list it is named fifth.
Adenosineactive
Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated. The panel names it fifteenth on this toner pad's list, beside Niacinamide.
Portulaca Oleracea Extractplant extract
Portulaca Oleracea is purslane. Its extract is unusually high in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants for a plant, and Korean formulas use it for the look of reddened, reactive skin. It is named seventh on this toner pad's list, alongside Niacinamide.
Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extractplant extract
Amaranth seed extract, carrying squalene, sterols and peptides. It is used as a conditioning extract. The panel names it tenth on this toner pad's list, beside Niacinamide.
Triethylhexanoinemollient
Triethylhexanoin is a light ester emollient that softens skin and disperses pigment. It absorbs cleanly and is often used to thin a heavy oil phase. It is named third on this toner pad's list, alongside Niacinamide.
Where does this toner pad go in my routine?
Use one pad from it straight after cleansing, morning and evening. Anything thinner than a toner pad goes on before it, and anything richer goes on after. If you are adding it to a routine you already like, give it a week on its own first, so what you see is the Niacinamide and not three changes at once.
Is this the Korean-market toner pad or a US version?
The Korean-market one, Niacinamide and all. We match this toner pad to its Korean barcode before it reaches the shelf, which is the check that tells you which market release you are holding.
What else is on the list besides Niacinamide?
Adenosine, Portulaca Oleracea Extract and Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract. The order they are printed in on this toner pad's panel is the order on the box, so you can see where Niacinamide sits relative to them. Further down the same panel: Triethylhexanoin and Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin).

How to use
- Take one pad and wipe outward from the centre of the face using the textured side.
- Turn the pad over and press the smooth side back over the cheeks and forehead.
- Follow immediately with a serum while the surface is still damp from the pad.
- Do not scrub with the textured side, since pressure rather than the pad itself is what leaves skin looking irritated.
Worth knowing
- Patch test on the inner arm before first full use, as with any new skincare product.
