How it works
This is a water step aimed at comfort rather than at a mark, which is why it suits skin that has been unsettled by something stronger. It goes on within a minute of rinsing, leaving the surface damp so the serum after it spreads from very little product. On flushed looking skin the useful thing is how little the step asks: no friction, no treatment work to account for. A pad format in the same slot would add a sweep the skin does not need. Judge it on whether the face feels comfortable before your next step goes on.
How to use
- Apply it within a minute of cleansing, while the skin is still damp from rinsing.
- Press a small pool in with flat hands, adding a second pass on any area that feels tight.
- Keep this step constant while you pause or introduce anything stronger, so you can tell what caused what.
- Do not use a cotton pad with friction on reactive skin, because the sweep is what unsettles it rather than the liquid.

Hands or cotton pad?
Hands, especially on reactive skin. A cotton pad adds friction and absorbs most of what you pour. Press a small pool in with flat palms and you will use less product for a better layer.
Can I use it while my skin is irritated?
Yes, and the more useful move alongside it is pausing whatever caused the irritation. Keeping the routine to a cleanser, this and a plain moisturiser for a few days is usually what settles things.
Do I still need a moisturiser?
Yes. A toner brings water and a moisturiser is what keeps it there. Skipping the cream is the usual reason a toner step seems to make no difference at all.
How long does 150ml last?
At twice daily use, six to eight weeks on the face and neck. Two passes each time brings that closer to a month. Pressing from the palms rather than soaking cotton stretches it.

- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Butylene Glycol humectant
- Butylene Glycol is a small glycol that does two jobs at once: it holds water in the top layer of skin and it dissolves plant extracts and actives that plain water cannot. It also thins a formula, which is why watery Korean essences lean on it.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Centella Asiatica Extract plant extract
- Centella Asiatica is the plant behind the whole cica category, sold as gotu kola or Madagascar centella. Its extract is the anchor of Korean formulas built for easily reddened skin, and its work is done by four triterpenes: asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid.
