How it works

Centella Asiatica Extract Toner is a toner from One Thing. One Thing is a Korean single-ingredient skincare brand: each toner and serum is built from one named plant extract, with no added fragrance or color. On this jar's own ingredient list, Centella Asiatica Extract, 1, 2-Hexanediol are named directly, which is what the key-actives panel on this page is built from rather than from the product name alone. Centella Asiatica Extract is cica, the calming botanical extract that anchors a huge share of current Korean skincare, and it is why this toner is positioned the way it is. Use it right after cleansing, to rebalance the skin and prep it for the next step; a toner's job is to rebalance the skin's surface so what follows absorbs evenly. One Thing sells this as the Korean-market formula, the same one stocked on shelves in Korea rather than a version built for the US market.

Key benefits

  • Centella Asiatica Extract is named directly on Centella Asiatica Extract Toner's own ingredient list
  • 1 is named directly on Centella Asiatica Extract Toner's own ingredient list
  • 2-Hexanediol is named directly on Centella Asiatica Extract Toner's own ingredient list
  • Centella Asiatica Extract Toner fits right after cleansing, to rebalance the skin and prep it for the next step
  • One Thing's Centella Asiatica Extract Toner is sold here as the Korean-market formula: the same formula Korean shoppers buy off the shelf in Seoul, not a version built for US retail
  • Centella Asiatica Extract Toner keeps the Korean barcode and batch code that print on the unit sold on shelves in Korea

How to use

  1. Use the Centella Asiatica Extract Toner straight after cleansing, morning and evening, while the face is still damp.
  2. Toner: Dispense a moderate amount onto cotton pad and gently wipe all over skin. Toner mask: Soak cotton pads with toner and let them sit on skin for 10 minutes. Mist: Transfer toner into a spray bottle to use as a mist anytime of the day.
  3. It goes on before serum and moisturizer, and the damp layer it leaves is what the step above it holds on to.
  4. Twice a day, every day. Do not let it dry down completely before the next layer goes on, or you lose the reason for applying it to damp skin.

Worth knowing

  • New to this formula or to the brand: patch-test on the inner arm and wait a day before applying it to the face.
  • Discontinue use and rinse the area with water if redness, itching or irritation develops.
