How it works
Green Tea Skin For Men is a toner, a thin liquid step that goes on right after cleansing while the skin is still damp. A toner's job is to re-wet the surface and leave it primed so the serum or cream that follows spreads evenly instead of sitting in patches. Because it is mostly water carrying a light dose of conditioning ingredients, it absorbs in seconds rather than sitting on the surface. It is not the step that does the heavy lifting in a routine; it is the step that gets the skin ready for the ones that do. Applied with a cotton pad or patted in with clean palms, it works the same way morning and night.
Key benefits
- What it is: a 150ml toner from innisfree, for the toning step.
- Format: a toner used AM and PM, right after cleansing.
- Fits into the routine: resets the skin's surface and preps it to take in the next layer.
- Original Korean Formula: the version sold on Korean shelves, not a US reformulation.
Inside the formula
Inside the formula
When do I use Green Tea Skin For Men in a routine?
Use Green Tea Skin For Men directly after cleansing, before serum or essence, morning and night. It is the first liquid step in a routine, so nothing goes on before it except a cleanser.
Do I use a cotton pad or my hands?
Either works. A cotton pad gives a light, even sweep across the whole face in one motion, while patting it in with clean palms warms the liquid slightly and can feel more comfortable on dry skin.
Can I use it twice a day?
Yes, it is designed for both the morning and evening routine. Most people use the same amount each time, right after their cleanser and before their next skincare step. That holds true whichever size or variant of this product you buy, so the same placement in a routine and the same answer apply across the line.
Does it replace a moisturizer?
No. A toner re-wets the surface and preps skin for what follows, but it does not replace a lotion or cream. Follow it with a moisturizer suited to your skin type.
Is it fragranced?
Check the ingredient list on the product page for a fragrance or parfum entry before use if you are sensitive to scent, since formulas in this line vary by product.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

19 of 20 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Alcohol Denat solvent
- Alcohol Denat. is ethanol with a bitter additive that makes it undrinkable, which is a tax rule rather than a formulation choice. It behaves like alcohol: a fast-evaporating solvent that gives a weightless finish and can feel drying at higher levels.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- PPG-13-Decyltetradeceth-24 emulsifier
- PPG-13-Decyltetradeceth-24 is a solubiliser used to hold oils and fragrance in a clear water-based formula.
- Triethyl Citrate solvent
- Triethyl Citrate is a citric acid ester used as a light solvent and plasticiser. It keeps films flexible and helps hold fragrance in place.
- Limonene fragrance component
- Limonene is the citrus-peel aromatic. It appears here because EU labelling requires 26 fragrance components to be named individually rather than hidden inside "fragrance", and it is one of them.
- Ethylhexylglycerin preservative booster
- Ethylhexylglycerin softens skin and boosts a preservative system, which is why it is nearly always sitting beside phenoxyethanol or 1,2-hexanediol. It also cuts down the odour bacteria produce, so it turns up in deodorising products.
- Sodium Metaphosphate chelator
- A phosphate salt that ties up metal ions in water. It also stops the calcium and magnesium in hard water from flattening a cleanser foam.
- Citrus Limon (lemon) Peel Oil fragrance
- Cold-pressed lemon peel oil. Citrus peel oils carry limonene and can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, which is why leave-on formulas use them sparingly.
- Ilex Paraguariensis Leaf Extract plant extract
- Yerba mate leaf extract, carrying caffeine and polyphenols. It is used as a plant antioxidant, most often in eye formulas.
7 more explained
- Beta-Glucan polysaccharide
- Beta-Glucan is a polysaccharide from oats or yeast. It holds a large amount of water, forms a soothing film, and is one of the ingredients formulators reach for in products aimed at reactive skin.
- Citral fragrance component
- Citral is a sharp lemon aromatic found in lemongrass and citrus oils. It is one of the 26 fragrance components EU labelling requires to be named.
- Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract plant extract
- Camellia Sinensis is the tea plant. Green tea leaf extract carries catechins, among the most studied plant antioxidants, and is used for the look of redness and oily shine.
- Mentha Viridis (spearmint) Leaf Oil fragrance component
- Spearmint leaf oil, an essential oil with a softer, sweeter mint character than peppermint. It scents a formula and gives a cooling feel.
- Cymbopogon Nardus (citronella) Oil fragrance component
- Citronella oil, distilled from a lemongrass relative. It is high in citronellal and geraniol and is used as an aromatic oil.
- Ferula Galbaniflua (galbanum) Resin Oil fragrance component
- Galbanum Resin Oil is a green, resinous essential oil used in perfumery to scent a formula.
- Tocopherol antioxidant
- Tocopherol is vitamin E. It is an oil-soluble antioxidant that protects the oils in a formula from going rancid and works on skin as an emollient, and it is regularly paired with vitamin C because each keeps the other going for longer.

How to use
- Use it right after cleansing, morning and night, on damp skin. Sweep a cotton pad over the face or pat two to three palmfuls in with clean hands, then move on to serum or the next step within a minute or two while the skin is still slightly damp.
Worth knowing
- Sweep it on before the skin fully air-dries after cleansing, since a toner works best on damp skin rather than a dry face.
- Anyone with reactive skin should patch test on the inner arm before applying it to the whole face.
