How it works
The Therapy Vegan Blending Toner 180ml is a toner from THE FACE SHOP, formulated to do one job well within a layered Korean routine. Its texture is built for its step: light enough to sit under later layers, or rich enough to sit as a final step, depending on where a toner lands in the order of a routine. THE FACE SHOP builds its Korean-market lines around a single clear purpose per product, so this formula is not asked to double as a serum, a mask and a cream at once. It is the Korean-market version, the same formula sold in Korea, with its Korean-market batch coding intact rather than swapped for a US-only run. That sourcing is the difference between this listing and a US-shelf reformulation carrying the same name.
Key benefits
- A toner built by THE FACE SHOP, formulated to its own single step rather than stacking claims a toner does not need.
- Texture and finish are built for layering, so it sits under or over the rest of a routine without disrupting it.
- Comes as the Korean-market formula, sourced for the Korean market rather than reformulated for US shelves.
- Carries intact Korean-market packaging and batch coding, the same box a shopper would find on the shelf in Korea.
- Sized and packaged for daily use as part of a layered Korean routine, not a one-off treatment.
Inside the formula
Inside the formula
Can I use this alongside other actives in my routine?
Yes. As a toner, it is built to sit at its own step, so it layers under or over the rest of a routine without crowding it. Introduce any new step on its own for the first week or two before adding it next to another strong active, so it is easy to tell which product is responsible for any change. Once it is settled into the routine, it layers the way any other toner in a Korean routine does.
How do I know this is authentic and not a US-reformulated version?
Check the box against the listing: an authentic Korean-market SKU carries Korean-primary packaging and an intact Korean-market batch code, not a US-only relabel. THE FACE SHOP's Korean-market formulas are sourced specifically to preserve that, rather than substituted for the US-shelf version some retailers carry under the same name.
When in a routine should I use this toner?
Use it as the toner step, AM and PM, right after cleansing and before serum. Placing a toner out of order is the most common reason a Korean routine feels like it is not working, so keep this one at its own step rather than doubling it up with a product built for a different stage. Give it a few weeks at that placement before judging the result.
What kind of texture does this toner have?
THE FACE SHOP formulates its toners for the finish that format is known for: light enough to layer without pilling, and finished for a Korean routine rather than a heavier US-market equivalent. It is built to sit at its own step, not to double as a different product type.
Is this toner fragranced?
Fragrance varies by formula, and the box lists what this specific version carries. If fragrance sensitivity is a concern, check the ingredient panel on the packaging on arrival before working it into a routine that already runs fragrance-free.
Not on the ingredient list below: fragrance or parfum, silicones, parabens, sulfate surfactants, mineral oil or petrolatum and added color.

20 of 26 explained
- Water solvent
- Water is the base almost every serum, toner and cream is built on. It dissolves the water-loving ingredients and sets how light the finished texture feels. On an INCI list it is usually first, which only means it is the largest single ingredient by weight.
- Propanediol humectant
- Propanediol is a plant-derived glycol used in place of propylene glycol. It hydrates, carries actives into solution, and gives a lighter, less sticky slip than glycerin at the same strength.
- Alcohol Denat solvent
- Alcohol Denat. is ethanol with a bitter additive that makes it undrinkable, which is a tax rule rather than a formulation choice. It behaves like alcohol: a fast-evaporating solvent that gives a weightless finish and can feel drying at higher levels.
- Glycerin humectant
- Glycerin is the most used humectant in skincare. It draws water into the outer layer of skin and holds it there, and it is one of the very few ingredients whose hydrating effect is settled science rather than marketing. Higher amounts feel tacky, which is why it is usually blended.
- 1,2-Hexanediol humectant
- 1,2-Hexanediol is a glycol used for two reasons: it holds water like glycerin, and it makes a formula harder for microbes to live in, so less traditional preservative is needed. Korean formulas use it heavily for that second reason.
- Thymus Vulgaris (thyme) Extract plant extract
- Thyme extract, carrying the phenols thymol and carvacrol. It is used as an antioxidant plant extract and resists microbes.
- Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit Oil emollient
- Olive Fruit Oil is high in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is a rich emollient that suits dry skin and is heavy enough that blemish-prone skin often does not get on with it.
- Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract plant extract
- Marigold flower extract, one of the oldest plant ingredients used for the look of reddened, easily bothered skin. It carries carotenoids and flavonoids.
- Persea Gratissima (avocado) Oil emollient
- Avocado oil, rich in oleic acid and plant sterols. It is one of the heavier plant oils, which suits dry skin and cleansing balms.
- Cymbopogon Martini Oil fragrance component
- Palmarosa oil, distilled from a grass related to lemongrass. It is high in geraniol and carries a rose like scent, so it is used as an aromatic oil.
- Santalum Album (sandalwood) Oil fragrance component
- Sandalwood oil, distilled from the heartwood. Its scent comes from santalol, and it is used as a base note that lasts on skin longer than most aromatic oils.
- Dicaprylyl Ether emollient
- Dicaprylyl Ether is a very light emollient used to make a formula spread quickly and feel dry rather than oily.
8 more explained
- Gellan Gum thickener
- Gellan Gum is a fermentation-derived polysaccharide that sets a clear, brittle gel at very low levels. It is used to suspend particles without thickening the liquid much.
- Adenosine active
- Adenosine is a nucleoside that Korea's own cosmetic authority recognises as a wrinkle-care functional ingredient, which is why it appears on so many Korean lists at a low level. It is used for the look of fine lines and is stable and well tolerated.
- Elaeis Guineensis (palm) Oil emollient
- Palm Oil is a rich emollient high in palmitic and oleic acids. In skincare it is more often a source material for esters and emulsifiers than an ingredient on its own.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride emollient
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the light fraction of coconut oil, with the heavy parts removed. It is the workhorse emollient of modern formulas: it softens skin, dissolves oil-soluble actives and absorbs without the greasy weight of a whole plant oil.
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary) Leaf Oil fragrance component
- Rosemary Leaf Oil is an essential oil carrying camphor and cineole. It scents a formula and is a stronger aromatic than most.
- Magnesium Sulfate mineral
- Magnesium Sulfate is Epsom salt, used as a mineral salt in the water phase. Despite the name it is not a cleansing sulfate and does not foam.
- Sodium Citrate pH adjuster
- Sodium Citrate is the salt of citric acid, used as a buffer: it holds a formula at a steady pH rather than pushing it in one direction. It is also a mild chelator.
- Tocopherol antioxidant
- Tocopherol is vitamin E. It is an oil-soluble antioxidant that protects the oils in a formula from going rancid and works on skin as an emollient, and it is regularly paired with vitamin C because each keeps the other going for longer.

How to use
- Cleanse first and go straight to this while your face is still damp, since a damp surface takes it evenly.
- Pour a small amount into your palm or onto a cotton pad and press it over the face and neck.
- Follow with your serum and moisturiser within a minute or two so the water has something to sit under.
- Do not rub it in with force or let your face dry off completely first, because both waste the step.
Worth knowing
- Patch test on the inner arm first if trying a new brand's formula for the first time.
- Stop use and check the ingredient list against any known sensitivities before continuing.
